Re: Canadian Juniors
That was REALLY interesting, and must've been a TON of work. Thanks for putting it together. It does tend to underscore some of the problems our Canadians have faced, with high-ranking Juniors not making it as far as they'd like in their careers - Jeyaseelan, Fichman, Bester, etc. etc. I'm still holding out for Sharon and Philip to do some good things. And Jeyaseelan DID beat Venus that time.......... But still, an interesting thing to think about.

Re: Canadian Juniors
I think by Junior Wimbledon there will be 3 Canadians playing in the draw, as I feel both di Feo and Schnur will be bound to make a burst up the rankings. I don't think a Canadian will be winning a Junior grandslam anytime soon though.

Re: Canadian Juniors
Two guys born in 95, wonder what the 96 crop has in store, doesn't look to good right now but 97 could be sweet with Volfson and Tabilo

Re: Canadian Juniors
they also won the doubles championship so a definite boost up the rankings. They should both be around the top 80 now.

Re: Canadian Juniors
Young Volfson is having a good week - into the finals of a G4 in Mexico, for the loss of only one set so far. Took out the #1 seed in straights.

Re: Canadian Juniors
Volfson took the U16 Canadian title in convincing fashion, losing at most 4 games in a match. He is clearly too strong for the Canadian players in this age range (apart from Tabilo who wasn't playing), even though he is still only 14.

Re: Canadian Juniors
Samuel Monette is the Canadian U18 champion - no competition for him, losing no more than 4 games per match until the final where he beat Schnur 7-6, 6-0. It's the 3rd U18 final for Samuel and the first he won.
A good tournament for Harrison Scott (born 1997) - he was finalist in U16 and got to the semifinals here.

Re: Canadian Juniors
Filip OBUCINA into the SFs in the G5 ITF event in Canada this week. Also Tabilo's first two wins in the junior U18 level.

Re: Canadian Juniors
It's junior Davis Cup time - qualifying in Mexico.
Unsurprisingly, our U14 team (Benjamin Sigouin and Dylan Bednarczyk) were crushed by the US.
The U16 team (David Volfson, Harrison Scott and Olivier Gingras) beat Dominican Republic 3-0.
If anyone wants to see detailed results, here is the link: http://itfjuniors.tournamentsoftware...A-972788A5FD18
The good news is that the U16 finals are being held this year in Spain rather than Mexico, so Mexico doesn't get an automatic ticket and we don't need to beat the US to qualify.
I am disappointed to see that Tabilo is not on the team - I hope this doesn't indicate a complete rift following Tabilo's grievances against Tennis Canada.
