Default knee injury

Hello all. I'm new here. I'm 50. Play a lot on a hard court. Heard a big click-click when landing after jumping for an overhead. Couldn't straighten the leg or walk that evening. 48-hours later a lot better. Never really hurt too much. What happened? Will I play again? Anyone had this experience?

You ought to seek the advice of a physical therapist, good sir.

Thank you for the reply, kind Sir. I did see the sports trainer at school. He said I landed wrong. He said something about the ligaments that cross in front of the knee. He said when I could do one-foot jump squats on it I could play. I was afraid to even try for many days and then finally was able to do a couple. Later I thought I would be able to play a little basketball and soon discovered I wasn't ready. I have since given up on the idea of tennis for at least another couple of weeks, which will mean a month lay off. However, I feel it may be longer. It never really hurt a lot, no sharp pain, no great swelling. I walk fine, can't really run like before though. Do you or anyone here have any thoughts at all, no similar experiences?

Thanks for the reply, mate! Yeah, I'm all over that stretching thing. I got Pain Free by Pete Egoscue and have been doing the foot E-cises for over ten days now: foot circles, flex points, calf stretch, hamstring stretch, static back and my favorite the Air Bench. I have a glass of water when I get up, put on some meditation tunes and do it up for about twenty minutes religiously every morning. Never felt better.
