Re: Does anyone like indoor tennis?
Tennis court homogenisation can go to hell.

Re: Does anyone like indoor tennis?
Indoor tennis is the pro tennis industry trying to milk a little extra money after all the real tennis has ended for the year... The last indoor tourney of the year which doesn't resemble any other tennis tournament in any which way... is a joke!
Tennis is meant to be played outdoors... Sun, wind, atmosphere... not a sterile environment that is called indoors...

Dislike indoor tennis. Servefest and ballbasher heaven.

Re: Does anyone like indoor tennis?
I used to really enjoy the late 90s events on TV from Stuttgart, Paris, the Eurocard Open, Hamburg. ESPN used to show a match each afternoon, really liked that quality of tennis, seeing the ball clearly, the quiet conditions. Patrick McEnroe and Cliff Dryddale were great together back then, Patrick was really on his game and you could sense the enthusiasm in his voice. He's still veryvery good but he was at his best then. Too bad German tennis sunk down and lost those events back then.

Of course, you hate it. Nadal doesn't do well indoors
The only reason anyone would hate indoors is if they are Nadaltards. That's the only reason. Only Nadal fans hate indoors, or fans of claycourters who can't even get any wins indoors.

Tournaments where rallies end in 2-3 shots or serve dominated are boring; real tennis fans want to see exciting rallies. That's why carpet, fast grass and indoor hard have been phased out long before Nadal came into picture. Public wants to see tennis, not some serve-bot or a flat hitting clown ending every rally with shots which are impossible to retrive because of speed and low bounce.

Wrong.
REAL tennis fans want to see a contrast of styles- i.e. serve and volley on these courts and grass, brutal baseline exchanges on clay, and flat ballstriking on hardcourts.

that is precisely what the real fans want, even if they don't know it... and i don't think it could be said in less words than how that was put just there...

Serve and S&V became too dominant in the 90's. Goran and Sampras turned Wimbledon into ace fests. Public was getting bored and in order for the sport to take a step forward and keep its popularity the surfaces HAD to be slowed down.
Serve is still THE most important shot in tennis today, just not AS dominant and that is a good thing. Lesser reliance on serve forces the players of today to be more athletic, more fit and to develop the technique of groundstrokes. The entertainment value of tennis has gone up significantly. People longing for acefests have forgotten how boring such matches were. One break, one mini-break and you could lose a set. It wasn't fun, didn't have any drama or suspense.

Bzzzzz!! Wrong!
Indoor tennis has a long history alongside outdoor tennis. Some would even say it is the original tennis. At least know your history before posting.
