Uncle Toni playingmind games, says Djokovic was lucky.

google translate at will, haven't found a report in english.
Nadal's camp likes to play these mind games through the press. PR can be so toxic in sports.

30-something man: Yeah, so now you have to learn to play tennis.
Girl passerby: What does that have to do with anything?
20-something girl: Then we can be corporate hos and tennis pros -- duh.
30-something man: We should do commercials... Why don't we work for an ad agency?!

That ungrateful Nadal camp. Out of the goodness of his heart, Novak donated Rafa a French Open and this is the thanks he gets?

Who cares about Phony's thoughts? The guy apparently got frustrated after several beat downs of his nephew and trashtalk is the only thing he has left.

Don Tony is used to controlling the world. Of course he won't be able to handle it. All we can hope is that it stops at words in the press and nobody ends up "sleeping with the tennis balls"

Uncle is pressed and desperate it seems...for a moment it seemed like slowing down of all courts will propel Nadull into total domination, but Faker just happened to find a cure. Tough times for spanish mafia indeed

Serbian website making a mountain out of a molehill. They took an answer where Toni says that Djokovic had a bit of luck and translated it into him saying that Djokovic had a lot of luck. Starting drama where there's absolutely no reason for it.

well, he said more than that...but I agree it's a bit inflated by the press (which a good spin doctor knows will happen)

Re: Uncle Toni playingmind games, says Djokovic was lucky.
He manages to diss both Djokovic and Federer in the same answer
Quote:
|
"Yes, it is clear that Djokovic is where he is because he deserves it, totally. But it is also true that, apart from being very good and being the best, he had a wee bit of luck that maybe could have facilitated us. For example, in Flushing Meadows, he played against Federer and he almost lost. And maybe, if we had played Federer in the end, we could have won ... Well, better not make these calculations. In short, you should always have a wee bit of luck."

That was smart from Toni. But everybody knows Federer acts like a Mug against Nadal.

Re: Uncle Toni playingmind games, says Djokovic was lucky.
There is a very good short story by Denis Diderot (18th-Century French philosophe) entitled "This Is Not a Story". For some reason it springs to mind.

Re: Uncle Toni playingmind games, says Djokovic was lucky.
I have to agree with Uncle T for the most part
Nadal was beating joker- then just before the clay season he loses 2 close matches- then he loses on clay- 3 in a row knocks all his confidence- and since then on key points he plays passive (moonballing) and novak abuses the heck out of that
nadal is mentally not 100% against nole just as Roger was never mentally 100% against Rafa
i hope people can now realise that you can be mentally clutch and still have a kryptonite player
i was thinking about sampras and if it applied to him- not obviously but i think brug once said- "i can beat pete anywhere on any surface"
bruguera had a leading H2H if i remember correctly- although they didnt play enough for it to be conclusive
