Worst idea ever.
Hope this doesn't happen.

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
So if WTF isn´t going to be last event of the year, how qualification will be going? and it doesn´t make sense WTF not to be last, not counting DC final. Than to have south american clay tournaments at the end of the year, yyeeh guys like Almagro,Ferrer, Monaco going for easy points, but in december..
Paris-Bercy is dying for years, top guys skipping it, this year even worse schedule than normal with WTF immediately after it, but moving it to the beginning of the year? so it will be 1st Masters 1000 of the year right? don´t know but it is weird.
About those 2 months-really top guys wants more time, but if they will play exhibistion for petrodollars in arab world or travelling who know where, than don´t play it nice you need time and you go where money is. Either you want relax or you want making money - if so than make money at ATP level normal tournaments, not exhibitions.
Also i don´t see anything positive at Paris-Bercy being 1st MAster1000 of the year, top guys probably will rest after AO, go to Dubai than IW-Miami, but for most lower ranked guys indoor european beginning of the year can be good, Rotterdam, Marseille-Paris don´t know how many indoor events, but top guys probably won´t play AO-Paris-IW-Miami + there is Dubai a lot of cash. So Paris-Bercy can be officialy another MC not mandatory, but for guys outside top player it can be good chance maybe to win big title during ,,indoor,, season in Europe.
Also don´t know what will happen to october indoor tournaents-they will be replaced to february or just cancel them all?

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
I believe they ought to do what they did in the early 80's, having the previous year's Top 8 Masters the following Spring.
So it would be AO, then the 3 separate tours in Feb., then I would move Paris Indoors to February, with the Masters one week after. Then IW and Miami, maybe make them 1 week, maybe no, then the clay season. One extra week in grass is coming, which is very good. Then the USO swing, optional Asian swing, and Davis Cup finals being the last week of October.
Paris Indoors in Feb. is a good idea. The moving of the clay events to Dec. is kind of mug, but I can live with it.
Overall this is a step in the right direction. Good on the ATP for once

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
WTF will allways have to be the end of the season, I think. It's just that the new season will start in december.

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
Hope this is not true. Sounds as if it hasn't been thought through. Something needs to be done about the schedule I'm just not too sure this is it. For one thing WTF should always be the last tournament of the season that's the whole point.

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
Lol, only Johnny Groove thinks it's a good idea. I think it should be Asian swing moved after Aussie as when it comes to timezone it's the nearest. I liked what Djokovic wanted for there to be a break mid-season maybe two weeks or so, i don't think it's the length but the packed schedule.
My proposed full schedule basing on tournies as of 2012, i know there will be tournament changes. 1 week earlier for end of season.
Doha/Chennai/Brisbane
Sydney/Auckland
Melbourne
Melbourne
DC First Round
Montpelier/Zagreb/San Jose
Rotterdam/Memphis/Marseille
Dubai/Delray Beach/Sao Paulo
Indian Wells
Indian Wells
Miami
Miami
DC Quarters (can be before Indian Wells)
Buenos Aires/Vina del mar/Houston
Acapulco/Casablanca
Monte Carlo (hopefully becomes 500 soon)
Barcelona/Bucharest
Estoril/Belgrade/Munic
Madrid
Rome
Nice/Dusseldorf
Paris
Paris
Halle/Queens
's-Hertogenbosch/Eastbourne
London
London
Newport/Bastad/Stuttgart
Hamburg/Atlanta/Umag
Los Angeles/Gstaad/Metz
Washington/Kitzbuhel/St.Petersburg
Montreal
Cincinatti
Winston-Salem
New York
New York
DC Semi-Final
Kuala Lumpur/Bangkok
Beijing/Tokyo
Shanghai
Stockholm/Moscow/Vienna
Basel/Valencia
Paris
WTF
DC Final

I definitely agree with this. WTF should always be the tournament that brings the season to a close. I do think that moving Paris-Bercy to February would be a very good idea. With its current place in the schedule, Bercy's status as a Masters is greatly diminished. Everyone knows that most top players won't give their full effort to participate there when they have to conserve themselves for WTF. Also, moving Bercy to February would make the season flow a little better since there is always a bit of a lull between Oz & IW that would be helped by having an additional Masters.

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
Better yet,
#1 Put all HC tournaments in Europe and the Golden Swing after USO, finishing with Paris - WTF - DC as usual, but ending in October.
#2 Have a proper running up to AO, with Middle-Eastern and Asian tournaments in January (maybe start with some 250s in December even) and push AO to middle of February.
#3 ???
#4 Profit.

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
If they want to move Bercy,
Doha/Chennai/Brisbane
Sydney/Auckland
Melbourne
Melbourne
St.Petersburg/Metz
Stockholm/Moscow/Vienna
Basel/Valencia
Paris
DC First Round
Indian Wells
Indian Wells
Miami
Miami
DC Quarters
Houston/Zagreb/Vina del mar
Monte Carlo (hopefully becomes 500 soon)
Barcelona/Bucharest
Estoril/Belgrade/Munic
Madrid
Rome
Nice/Dusseldorf
Paris
Paris
Halle/Queens
's-Hertogenbosch/Eastbourne
London
London
Newport/Bastad/Stuttgart
Hamburg/Atlanta/Umag
Los Angeles/Gstaad/Montpellier
Washington/Kitzbuhel/Marseille
Montreal
Cincinatti
Winston-Salem
New York
New York
DC Semi-Final
Rotterdam/Memphis/Buenos Aires
Dubai/Delray Beach/Sao Paulo
Acapulco/Casablanca/San Jose
Kuala Lumpur/Bangkok
Beijing/Tokyo
Shanghai
WTF
DC Final
I don;t how they where they are going to place Dubai and Rotterdam as those attract players, they coincide with the south American and is like a part of it already schedule wise. Also hard to adjust as there are many American tournaments that can;t be on the same week.

I like the number 2, as that is what many players want to have more time to prepare for AO as Asian Swing is also a good preparation for AO as it is has almost the same time zone it will also be given more importance. It will be tough though to move slam.

Re: ATP Calender, 2014 onwards
well obviously the top players would push for this but i hope this doesnt get passed. There are just a number of problems with it in theory. The year end championships should cap off the year .
They shouldnt be trying to cater to only the top players in giving them more time off. Let the wtf be the way to cap the season off and end things in late october like the WTA
