-TMS Canada should be a grass court event
-Queens should be a Tennis Masters event
-Change the schedule of Queens so it doesn't start immediately after Roland Garros.
-TMS Cincinatti should be downgraded to a 250 event.
-There should be an ATP 250 event in Vancouver and Montreal, so 3 atp events in Canada. 2 grass and 1 hard.
-Speed up TMS Miami and Indian Wells 20x.
-Speed up every hard court event to prevent guys like Nadal win events he's not supposed to win.
-the only reason why Nadal wins events like the US Open, Wimbledon and every other supposed fast surface is all because they all have been slowed to clay court speed.
The ATP Tour caters to Nadal and every other baseliner mug. We all know damn well if the supposed fast surface tournaments played at the speeds they were supposed to be at, then guys like Hewitt and Nadal wouldn't have won Wimbledon and thus Roger Federer would've had a few more slams in his trophy case.

Not sure about wood but they should bring back the CARPET, and definitely Wimbledon must be quicker (and RG slower), and would be good if Queens was masters or maybe Canada TMS was on grass.

the atp calender doesn't need to change at all, in fact there should be at least one tournament every single week of the year imo. just give the players the freedom to play what they want. that way you won't have hardcourt players mugging it out on clay and vice versa.

Default What the Tennis Calender should look like?

17 Jan 2011 - 23 Jan 2011 = Shanghai Masters (Hard)
31 Jan 2011 - 06 Feb 2011 = Sydney Masters (Hard)
14 Feb 2011 - 27 Feb 2011 = Australian Open

two weeks off

11 April 2011 - 17 April 2011 = Rome Masters (Clay)
25 April 2011 - 01 May 2011 = Monte Carlo Masters (Clay)
09 May 2011 - 22 May 2011 = Roland Garros

04 July 2011 - 17 July 2011 = Wimbledon
Two weeks off

01 Aug 2011 - 07 Aug 2011 = Indian Wells Masters (Hard)
15 Aug 2011 - 21 Aug 2011 = Miami Masters (Hard)
29 Aug 2011 - 11 Sept 2011 = US Open
Two weeks off

26 Sept 2011 - 02 Oct 2011 = Paris Masters
10 Oct 2011 - 16 Oct 2011 = Tour Finals at the 02 in London or Madison Square Gardan New York
Two weeks off

28 Oct 2011 - 30 Oct 2011 = Davis Cup S/Final
04 Nov 2011 - 06 Nov 2011 = Davis Cup Final

At the moment there are too many tournaments in the calandar, the top players are being made to play too much and are not given a long enough rest between events and at the end of the season. The Australian open is too early in the year and doesnt allow the players enough lead up going in to it. The grass court season isnt long enough and the davis cup is in no-man's land in the calandar.

In my schedule the calandar is designed to focus on the 4 Grand Slams, the Davis Cup, and the Tour Finals. There's two run-up tournaments/Masters before each Grand Slam event. Obviously the schedule would have to be slightly changed every 4 years to fit in the Olympics.

Any thoughts????

Lower ranked players need the other ATP 250 and 500 events you know.

I see your point, but the little players, like the riba's and andujar's are not what attracts people to Tennis. This schedule would take care of the talent, the top guys. You say the Top players have it ok, but look at the injuries come the World Tour finals. The best players dont play davis cup very often because of the current calandar. In terms of the lesser players maybe they could combine the 250 tour events with the challanger circuit.

Regarding your schedule - after playing a grand slam in january in australaia on hard court, whats the point of then playing more events on hard court in dubai and Indian wells and miami when there isnt another slam on hard court until september.

ummm... no.
IW and Miami don't need to be in the summer; those locations are hot year round, they would be unbearable in summer.

Smaller tournaments are just fine as warm-ups for slams; it doesn't need to be a Masters. The tour isn't just about slams Slams aren't even run by the ATP -- why should the ATP subvert their calendar to cater to them?

Many players overplay and play tournaments that aren't even mandatory, and then complain that they are tired/injured. Can't help you if you're greedy. And even top 10 guys do it. But the ATP needs to do away with the onerous "four 500-level tournament" requirement, or make it easier to fulfill.

The atp tour may not be about the grand slams, but the history of tennis is all about the majors and the davis cup, and those events are still what drives tennis.

Too much emphasis is made on tournaments outside of the slams, like for instance Indian Wells and Miami which do not lead to a hard court slam and last over 3 weeks in total. For me things would be made a lot easier if the ITF were in charge of the whole tour.

Also in cincinnati in august is usually pretty unbearable heat

Translation: I'm a glory hunter.

BTW, Hewitt isn't a top guy anymore, so I guess he should be put in the "other" insignificant loser tour with Andujar, Riba, and the other overwhelming majority of tennis professional athletes.

The top players are forced to play those tournaments i listed or face a fine. Sadly, that list would be reduced even more if the top 4 had their way, giving fans maybe 7-8 good looks of them per year. Not an ideal situation for a sport where it isn't doing so well in the major markets except for Europe.

Top players are only required to play 18 tournaments, iirc. Of course some might want to play extra events at home, but there seems to be no reason for guys like Simon, Berdych or Verdasco to play almost 30 tournaments in a year
