Default Superathletes

Athletes are an inspiration. It does not matter what sport they excel at, there are some seriously incredible sportsmen and sportswomen out there who do amazing things. I do not think these remarkable individuals receive enough recognition, I would like to put the spotlight on them in this thread.

Default Re: Superathletes

The idea for this thread comes from Miss Clara Hughes.

Clara Hughes shot to Canadian Olympic glory when she won 2 bronze medals at the 1996 Atlanta games. For many athletes, winning 2 Olympics medals would be a career achievement. For her, it turned out to be the prelude.

Speed skating was next, she switched to the sport and became pretty good at that. She competed in 3 winter Olympics. She won bronze in 2002, a gold and a silver in 2006 and a bronze in 2010.

Other athletes have won Olympics medals both in the Summer and Winter games. Clara Hughes is the only one to win multiple medals at both.

That being done, she has now returned to cycling. The goal is London 2012. Well, she is on her way. She won 2 golds at the Pan Am games and placed 5th at the World Championships.

If those achievements were not enough, Clara is also a humanitarian, giving 10 000$ of her money to Righ to Play. For a true amateur athlete, this is a huge amount to give away.

I hope Miss Hughes did not set the bar too high.
