Served well, 10 aces, 8 BH winners, but sometimes he played as if still on clay. He was grimacing occasionally, but the serve did not seem affected.

Was it the camera angle or did he have a higher ball toss than usual on serve?

Congrats Muller on a good performance today whereas Gasquet who played alright but was a bit too passive on certain points also missed 5 break points, 3 of them when Muller served for the match!
This was a good chance for Richard to make a deep run in his home tournament, I really wanted to make it to the weekend!!

Richard needs to get the fire and his heart back. Yet another match, where he just stayed negative, showed frustration when his opponent hits a good shot or good serve and just showed his hopelessness.
Richard can not hit the ball early and solid anymore. He can't hit a decent second serve return, he just forgot how to do that. I think he used to be able to.

Gasquet only won 3/11 points on his 2nd serve!
Gasquet didn't seem to attack the Muller 2nd serve with Muller winning 17/25 points but considering Muller does have a good 2nd serve.
Tough loss but onto the next tournament now.... Beijing

Nice solid, aggressive play from Muller. Richard looked flat, passive and clueless most of the time - like his mind and game were still on clay in Spain against Nadal (resigned and helpless).
Unless Richard adpots a much more aggressive game and mindset, this fall indoor season is going to be
Know points aren't the most important but I do believe he now drops to at least #17 so back come the really tough draws for the 1000s, unless he performs a miracle in the next tournament.
