oh ,please! Grigor played well but you cannot say he was the better of two. He lost 2-0 sets, no matter what stats are telling. Grigor is still missing something in the mental part.
Hope he has a better draw next.

Tight match. It's a shame he lost but he's improving all the time and these are the kind of matches that will make him a better player.

I missed the match, but it looks like Grisho was playing good
If anyone find the match anywhere for downloading - please post link here

He is 4th alternate for now in Shanghai, but I hope he will play qualies - if he qualify for the main draw he will get 25 points

Djokovic, Monfils and Isner have withdrawed from china open that i believe they will withdraw from Shanghai. And it's very possible for Murray to withdraw so Grisha have a big chance to enter the main draw directly. I watched the game against Tsonga today in Beijing, he seemed so anxious to win at the last two games that he lost hisown tempo, he played really well today, and he seems very confident after the game at the hotel, thus i believe he will do better next time. It's time for the rising star!

Monfils already withdrew from Shanghai, Grigor is 3rd on alt list... Well Djokovic might withdraw but Isner will play, he had only a stomach illness.

But.. I still dont know what happened in Simon match, maybe he is injured so Im not sure he will play.. Hopefully someone will withdraw beyond them.

Grigor played well today but he lacks the experience on winning those kind of matches. He is still making this silly errors that make the difference. About Shanghai I think it is better for him to play qualies. I hope he doesn't withdraw by the way because I is a possibility. Playing some matches before that will give him extra confidence.

Why do you think he might withdraw from Shanghai? I haven't heard about him being injured.

I didn't manage to see the match but from everything I've heard and from following it on live scores, it looks like he played really well. All players develop at different rates and maybe he might take a bit longer than some others but he clearly has the game to succeed and the mental side will come with time.

A win here would have been fantastic but his fans should be a bit more positive. He's a far better player than he was at the start of the summer and as long as he continues improving, the big results will come soon enough.

Thanks for the report and it's good to hear he was positive about the match. Did you speak to him at the hotel?

It seems that he's getting closer to getting over the hump! Once he has that first victory over a top ten player, watch out! I'm happy to hear he's upbeat. Hopefully he'll either gain direct entry or qualify for Shanghai - looking forward to next week!
