Novak Djokovic, the world’s best male tennis player, will end his two-year cooperation with Italian clothing brand Sergio Tacchini International, the company said.
“It has been mutually and amicably decided that, as of the 2012 Roland Garros Grand Slam, Novak Djokovic will no longer be the brand ambassador,” the company said in an e-mailed statement today.
Djokovic is the reigning Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Australian Open champion. He rose to the top spot of the men’s tennis rankings last July after he won his first Wimbledon title.

No ST no more? Can't say I'm sad. Please, please let it be nike or adidas. Please.

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
Probably? I guess it's a must now, as well as the whole Asian tour

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
Uniqlo have absolutely shit clothes for Nishikori, one can only hope they put some effort into designing something for Nole. But their logo (which must be on every outfit obviously) is hideous.

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
Oh no from bad to.worse. Yay!
But let's be positive: ST gave US Nole 2.0 and it was so bad, maybe this brand I can't even spell the name will be so bad, it will distract opponents and give US Nole 3.0 and a golden slam.

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
It sounds something like Zara..casual wear?
I'm not negative at all..don't know why, it's not that I like it, it's not that i don't like it's..ordinary gear I would say.
But I must admit, even though I don't know if it was a possibility at all, that I'm thrilled that he's not just another Nike puppet. At least it's unique...will that be good or bad? We'll see.

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
I'm sorry, prefer being a Nike puppet than a third-rate brand experiment. Uniqlo is even worse than ST.

It's also unique to make your own clothes even if you look like a homeless person. Us, common mortals, have no other way but to be puppets and wear clothes from Zara, H&M, etc.. If I want to go with unique, it's either very cheap and bad, or very expensive and inaccessible! So I really don't mind if the players are all wearing the same brand.
TBH, I would prefer adidas of all them. But if not adidas, please for god's sake, give me nike!

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
There's a strong possibility that it's not a long term contract, one story say that it could be only for a year (Italian journo said it's 6 million birthday present from Japan, but nothing more..is it per year, or not don't know).
My gut feeling..or the way I read his business moves so far..is that he is trying to be ambassador of the brand, which he won't get from Nike, nor Adidas. Family sport had the exclusive contract with ST, as far as I know, for Eastern Europe. Maybe he got the same type of deal..or maybe this is just a temporary contract until some bigger fish comes around.

Re: Novak News & Interviews Vol.2
Posted this in GM, but as some of you won't read it there. here it goes.
I read here he is the 7th most marketable sports player in the world right now.
Quote:
Criteria
Athletes from across the world have been ranked according to their marketing potential over a three-year period from this summer.
Value for money
Age
Home market
Charisma
Willingness
Crossover appeal
|
But:
Quote:
|
As ever, the key tenet of this list is the search for value for money. As such, the likes of Roger Federer, David Beckham, Peyton Manning and Serena Williams – global household names and hugely marketable individuals – are not included in the rankings as the cost of an endorsement with them is likely to be at its peak, with its value, indeed, on the wane.
|
1- Neymar, 2- Rory McIlroy, 3- Messi, 4- Usain Bolt, 5- Ronaldo, 6- Blake Griffin, 7- Djokovic, 27- Nadal, 36- Murray
