Re: Most tactically stupid player on tour?
According to the choices, the real question is "The lowest intelligence-to-ranking ratio" (because all the players are relatively high on the list, and we lack some more of #50-#100 stars)
Having the correct question in mind, the only possible answer is Andy Murray.

Re: Most tactically stupid player on tour?
Plotted shots are location of Nadal's 1st serves.
Although it's always worked for him, you can't call this sort of uni-dimensional tennis anything but stupid. Maybe limited is a better word but whatever. To me no player on tour is more...

Re: Most tactically stupid player on tour?
Golubev. By a wide margin. Worse than Monfils, and worse than Chardy and Gulbis.

Re: Most tactically stupid player on tour?
Gulbis' problem isn't necessarily tactics, it's shot selection.

tactic/ˈtaktɪk/
noun
1 an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific end.
2 (tactics) the art of disposing armed forces in order of battle and of organizing operations, especially during contact with an enemy. Often contrasted with strategy.
It's an oxymoron to say that something that always works for him is tactically stupid. It's like telling a general that he is stupid for repeating a plan that always takes him to victory, instead of being more creative and risking defeat just for the heck of it. Now that would be stupidity, of the highest order.

Re: Most tactically stupid player on tour?
As most have said without Monfils this thread is not valid. The guy is a loose cannon. You never know what he is going to do.

Ya, they probably would.
Also, Federer has 16 grand slams, 237 consecutive weeks at #1, etc, etc... y'know... if that counts for anything

Re: Most tactically stupid player on tour?
Moronic poll choices as usual. It's basically a list of people Everko doesn't like.
The answer you're looking for is Gael Monfils hands down. Golubev & Blake are ballbashers who while not very intelligent on court, are at least aware that their game is high-risk. Monfils just looks like a confused lost sheep out on the court if things doesn't go as planned. That USO quarter against Djokovic might be the worst excuse of a tennis match I've seen.

Wow mate you really need to either watch some tennis or stop posting in GM.

Much of the above very true.
Certain players do generate the rabbit in the headlights effect for other players.
