There are so many clueless players out there, I don't think there are any really more dumb than others if they don't get tactics, if they don't get it they don't get it, one that sticks out for me is Tomic.

Any of the players who won't budge off the baseline and overplay rallies.. Monfils and Gasquet the two biggest examples. Dolgopolov and Blake have a tendency to go for too much and rack up errors on big points.

Roddick thought he was good enough to win with 3 match points vs. Verdasco on Rome clay.
He pointed to the ball mark & told the umpire to reverse his match point win. He got his wonderful wish. He lost the match.

This thread is about tactical inability, not good sportsmanship.
It is not unlikely that Nando would have checked out the mark himself by the way. Boo to the umpire to blurt out Game Set Match Roddick before checking the mark. Unprofessional. |

but you must make a distinction between players who have no tactical option at all and players who make wrong choices.
example: Tomic, Monfils make horrible choices while they could do something else instead. Harrison has one option only, Troicki, Llodra too. if it doesn't work, it's over. Golubev, Young have no tactics, just ballbashing to death and hoping their shots are winners. Pablo Andujar, Juan Monaco keep playing the same tennis even in defeat.
