Re: Juan Carlos in Montreal 2011
Well, it's always a mystery which Gulbis shows up. If Juan is patient and solid, he take him down easily.
Wonder how he will do on HC with the knees and the mediocre serve.

Re: Juan Carlos in Montreal 2011
Pretty disappointing this match. He was so much better in the third set, but failed to break. Couldn't step it up and really looked flat and old at the end. Sad to see. With a bit more spirit and fitness, he would have definitely won this one.

Re: Juan Carlos in Montreal 2011
Didn't see the match but was Gulbis having one of his "James Blake" inspired moments or was JC down???

Re: Juan Carlos in Montreal 2011
This thread should be for the whole US Open Series. Instead of opening a new one for each tournament that JC will play in US.
Just sayin'

Agree.
I'll edit the top post then.
Btw, I saw the Gulbis match online though didn't have time to post till now.
First of all, tt wasn't a bad match considering it was JC's first match on hard court since USO last year.
JC was the better player in the third set until 5-5; he was holding more comfortably and had multiple break chances on Gulbis' serve---but he couldn't force his game on BPs and that was it. Ernie managed to raise up his game in the last two games while JC tightened.
JC usually does better in Cincy so let's keep fingers crossed!

Re: Juan Carlos in Cincy 2011
Cincy draw in top post.
Another tough draw... JC does well in Cincy but Feli is playing very well this season and he likes fast courts too...
But an eyecandy match guaranteed!
Good luck, Juanqui!!
