Default Roger & Peter Lundgren

Does anyone know the relation betwenn Roger and Peter Lundgren after they've been parted? Did Lundgren make any comments on Roger's games?
I'm just being curious.

Let's just say that Roger's 2004 coachless season is not the best thing to have happened to his reputation....

"his" refers to who's reputation? PL or Rogi?

I think Rogiman must have meant Peter's reputation. I can't imagine that this season would reflect badly on Roger!!

PL's reputation sullied after their split? I have never ever heard this before!!!! I have heard commentators on TV say that even though the split was a surprise to the public, it was expected by many insiders (ie, people on the Tour), and that winning Wimbledon 03 only delayed it.

Rogiman: Where did you hear/read this? It is the first time I've even come across such an innuendo

Also, PL did get hired on by Marat --that does not seem consistent with having a bad reputation at all

Oh, I'm not going to suggest PL is a bad coach by any means, nore am I saying he did a bad job with Roger, I'm just saying it looks to the outsider as if PL hampered Rogi a little bit, given how freely he's been flying ever since they split up.

On the BBC coverage of the AO final this year, one of the commentators, Andrew Castle, talked about this and he said that although Peter was a friend of his (Andrew's), he actually thought it was a good thing that Roger had decided to strike out on his own. So things couldn't have ended on that bad a note for Roger and Peter or else one of Peter's other friends wouldn't be speaking so highly of Roger and approving of his decision to go it alone. Andrew also said that Roger and Peter still get on and stay in contact, they haven't stopped being friends just because they don't work together anymore.

I think Roger pretty much said that the break happened because they were too close, been together for too long, and tried to gently say that he heard all Peter had to say and that he needed some new perspective.

I think that Peter ended up being too much of a friend and less his coach, and Roger needed something less comfortable.

I mean, how many coaches cry when their charge win a title? Peter was crying in Hamburg 2002 (and it was the only time I've seen Roger, other than *this year* in Hamburg, come to share a hug with his team after an important win), and he was crying worse than Roger and Mirka in Wimby 2003 . The affection there was obviously very great, but maybe Roger felt it was too easy, and wasn't challanging enough.
