This is exactly what i think

Default Re: Will Raonic win a grand slam in the future?

Imagine just Berdych with Milos´ s serve how scary it sounds and Berdych by himself has great serve, basically only FS% is what makes his serve look worse than it is, but he has great serve by himself, give Berdych Milos´s serve and he would be No.1.

Actually Milos has huge advantage in his height - he is generally as good server as Isner or Karlovic but but his height is ,,normal,, - Karlovic is maybe to tall for tennis player and he never had proper training, he was training just his serve i remember him once he said imagine if someone told me how to play BH he would be much better player, basically what Ivo achieved is by himself

Isner is still very tall probably for tennis player but instad of Karlovic he had good training, college training and see he is top 10, he has better ground game than Ivo

Now here is Milos as good server as those 2 tall guys but with ,,normal,, height, not limited by movement and with great training - training tennis for years - his couch is clay -courter that´s good some topspin safety on his shots + he can still generate amazing pace if hit it flat. So the height is actually big advantage here he has all advantages of Karlovic-Isner on serve- not the angles but basically he is as good server but he has no limitations like those guys being to tall for tennis. Really Berdych with Milo´s serve is really scary imagine - that can Milos be - probably he will never be as good as Berdych from baseline but if he just can be near as good imagine what a force he will be.

Raonic might reach top 10 this year if he does well in Shanghai & Paris. Isner has to defend a lot of points in Paris.

Novak, Andy and Juan will be there long enough to own him until he gets past his peak and starts getting owned by the younger guys. He can maybe be a 1-slam-wonder, 2 slams MAX, but he has to get on a much higher level and I don't see how bcs he doesn't have good enough return game and is not improving it to avoid close sets and tbs, and when you play as much tight matches, you are bound to lose 1 in a few (7?)...

You're right, but age is not the only criterion one should consider, mileage and number of years at the top level are nearly as importants.

Ferrer is born in 1982 but he's consistent in the top since 2005-2006 only, while Roddick, despite being born the same year, is a force since 2001-2002.

Raonic is in the scene since a few months while Djokovic has many more miles in the legs.

2012 Raonic is comparable with 2006 Djokovic. Djokovic is only 3 years older (note that Raonic is born in december) but he has played 6 more years than Rao.

But again - add to this that players of Rao`s style are injury prone. It will be miraсle if he plays next 7-8 years without missing important tournaments here and there, it never happened in past. Actually even Milos has such experience already.

Probably not. But if he decides to develop a return game, the sky is the limit.

Doubtful. The generation born in the early 90s is the worst ever.

even though it's not true that claim that they're the worst ever doesn't support your opinion there. If they're the worst ever then wouldn't that mean he'd have a better chance because of lack of competition?

Not if he plays like this.

If he improves and they actually speed up Wimbledon or the US Open someday he might be able to serebot his way t a fluke grand slam, but right now he's a long way away from being a grand slam contender.

Has top 10 regular potential though.

In this era,he must improve his baseline game much more, hopefully to the level of Berdych's,if he ever want a seat in the elite club.

I personally haven't seen many of his matches so i don't have enough information yet, but from the two matches I have seen him play, hell no. He looks pretty bad actually.

Just havnt seen where his game is complete enough to win a a slam. A big serve is expected these days, not that it will win you slam. Got a lot of work to do if it's gonna happen. Seems fairly unlikely.

Movement and footwork > huge serve. The current top 3 are impeccable movers, that's why they hold 33 slams between 3 of them. Serve is only a minor part of Nadal's and Djokovic's games.
