honestly peter should have never even been picked
i mean peter hasnt played well in forever, he couldnt even win when he went down to canada last week so i want to know what in ml's mind made him think this was a smart choice
there were other guys that are in better form like erik or perhaps pld..hell if they could have made peace and he could have chosen frank

If Milos isn't fit to go, what else are they supposed to do? Not like they have any choice in the decision.

Frankly, I don't think Erik or PLD would really be much of an upgrade. Peter's form is crap, but at least he has played and won best-of-5 matches before. A happy Frank or a healthy Bester would be the only other guys I would have picked.

well yeah, frank would have been my first choice too.
My point was that the choice to take peter confuses me. He has the experience but that doesnt mean much when your playing like crap

Re: Davis Cup
EXACTLY! Fucking hell.. Bester or even PLD would have been better than Peter. Those two are both in a better form than him. Peter is in his worst form.. EVER. Worst. Decision. Ever.

Bester is hurt, he wasn't an option.
I just don't think Chvojka or PLD would be doing any better than Peter is. Not like either of those guys would be blowing Sela off the court. Peter's had his chances on Sela's serve, but not finished them, which is disappointing, but more than I think Erik or PLD would have managed.

puhlease.. ANYONE would been able to do better than Peter these days. Peter lacks confidence, and he's in a rut. Confidence trumps everything in tennis. PLD and Bester have confidence, and they've both done well this season. I could totally see either of them win this match. Peter.. not so much.
I have to say though, that Canada has been REALLY unlucky, some of their best players are out injured. And it's not like you guys have a huge field to pick from either. You are dependent on your best players. Your team is in huge trouble if your best players are injured, because you have very limited options of who to replace them with. Canada at its best is good in DC, and you have the chance to beat more experienced DC teams, but it's difficult when half of the team is injured. You just don't have the field to pick from. Canada is still a TINY tennis country. I hope that will change in the future (obviously). You have some good players now, but still very few compared to other countries. The best thing that could happen to Canada is to see the popularity of the sport grow, so you can produce more tennis players.

Bester's injured, why do you keep bringing him up as an option
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I don't think any of PLD, Chvojka or Peter would have won that match, so I don't think it's really the kind of disastrous selection you seem to think it is.

Re: Davis Cup
anyone think Vasek is actually ahead of Milos in terms of skill development? He has much better footwork/movement,return, better technique on groundstroke, better volley. Pretty much everything besides power
