Queens R1: Lopez def Tursunov 7-6(4) 6-3
How I've missed grass. And a sexy match between these two sexy people.
Lopez played decently, some expert volleys there, great to see Tursunov here again.
Layani provided some entertainment with the mic not working.

Lopez' serve is delicious. That lob/volley combo on break point was damn tasty as well.
Now Roddick, should be a good match

Feli served really well. His serve really bites on grass. The wide serve is very effective for him. He also volleyed pretty well for the most part.
Dima sort of fell off in the second set but he showed good things at times.
I love Feli's game on grass because he plays traditional grass court tennis. Hopefully he can keep winning in this event.

Really enjoyed this match; some great points and net exchanges. One very memorable point was by Tursonov in the tiebreak where he just was able to reach (almost looked impossible) for Lopez's volley for a winner down the line.
I wish the grass season was a bit longer.

Re: Queens R1: Lopez def Tursunov 7-6(4) 6-3
Typical Tursunov
Failed to convert any of 3 SPs on Lopez's serve (though he didn't exactly "waste" them), got broken in the very next game by consecutively DFing on game point, fucking up a sitter and missing a routine backhand, broke back, recovered after loosy start at the TB, went 4*-3 ahead after executing sensational forehand and never won another point. The second set was a mere formality.
At least, Mitya should make it to Eurosport's "Watts" for inventing a new overhead type of shot and that forehand.
Feli, on the other hand, enjoyed a great serving day only getting tight near the end of the first set, was volleying beatifully, and even his erratic backhand turned out to be a kind of disruptive weapon against Tursunov who was reluctant to move inside the court.
And special to Sexy Mo.

Welcome Grass, your stay is all too brief. Enjoy the green while it lasts!
Good match today, Lopez looks quite comfortable on this court. Queens is marvellous!
