The Potito Starace fan club
So far I suppose I am the only, but hopefully he will get more as he aims to get into the top 100.
2 weeks ago he was number 202 in the world, in the space of that time he has moved up all the way to number 131 which makes it so exciting for him now.
In that time he has managed to gather these results:
FRENCH OPEN
Qualification round 1: beat Werner Eschauer (Aut) 6-4 6-1
Qualification round 2: beat Miguel Gallardo (Mex) 6-3 6-0
Qualification round 3: beat Marc Lopez (Spa) 6-4 3-6 7-5
Round 1: beat Dmitry Tursonov (Rus) 6-2 6-3 6-4
Round 2: beat Sebastien Grosjean (Fra, 10) 7-6 (6) 6-3 6-4
Round 3: Lost to Marat Safin (Rus, 20) 7-6(4) 4-6 6-3 5-7 5-7
SASSUOLO CHALLENGER $25,000
Starace was a wild card entry
Round 1: beat Arnaud Di Pasquale (Fra, WC) 6-3 6-4
Round 2: beat Diego Moyano (Arg) 6-2 6-3
Quarter Finals: beat Francesco Aldi (Ita) 6-1 6-3
Semi-Finals: beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (Spa, 4) 3-6 7-6(8) 7-6(2)
Final: beat Alessio Di Mauro (Ita, 3) 6-2 6-3
A great run in Roland Garros and winning the challenger in Italy have made for a grand couple of weeks for Starace where he has probably won mor emoney than in his lifetime.
This week he was expected to enter the challenger event in Lugano $50,000 but has pulled out due to the tiresome couple of weeks he has had.

Re: The Potito Starace fan club
Starace has qualified for the Gstaad Open rather impressively and faces David Sanchez in the firs round... tough test for Potitio now but he needs them.

@MajorcanBoy89 (aka SafriBoy89)
when will you ever learn not to act like this?
grow up and don't talk that badly in such a manner about other players or other people's favorites

You're not the only one, I 'discovered' him about 4 months ago, he plays at the same German tennisclub as Fred does, I let my eye fall on him when I was looking at pictures from that team. And with Fred playing a lot of challengers in Italy this year I began to follow Potito's results also .

Re: The Potito Starace fan club
…And The Big Potito have just defeated Hanescu in Gstaad second round (3-6 7-6 7-6) and in the quarter finals wait for the 2003 Gstaad Champion Jiri Novak.
I guess he's going to win.
Adelante Potito

Re: The Potito Starace fan club
Adelante, does that mean something like 'come on' in Italian?
I sure hope he's going to win .

exactly, but as far as I know it's Spanish and means "going forward".
In Italian they say "forza", don't they?

You're right, it's Spanish. In Italian means Avanti.
Anyway for all the italian-speaking Starace's fan, I suggest to download his interview at this link: http://www.swissopengstaad.com/press...starace_it.mp3

Re: The Potito Starace fan club
So when I say Forza Potito, it's the same as I would say come on to an English speaking player? Or do I have to say avanti Potito?

You're right. Forza Potito is such Come on Potito, while in Spanish is Vamos and if I'm right in French is Vas y
In Dutch?
Anyway
Come on Potito
Vamos Potito
Vas y Potitò
Forza Potito

Re: The Potito Starace fan club
In French you would say 'Allez Potito'. In Dutch it's 'Kom op Potito'. I can't explain how to pronounce it, sorry.
