Default Sets Played To Win Grand Slams (Open Era)

Created as a direct result of this thread. Here are the number of sets played en route to each Open Era singles Grand Slam title.

The problem with this data set is that before the early 1980s there was little consistency in the tournament structure (best of 3/best of 5 in early rounds, byes for top seeds, tie-breaker sets) so the earlier data is not directly comparable to the more recent data. Nevertheless, it is presented here in its entireity.

A plus indicates how many incomplete sets were played, i.e. there was a retirement or default during at least one of the matches.
