Granollers missed an easy volley at 6-4 1-0* 30-15 and after that the momentum completely changed.
I am the Nelson Mandela of MTF
Federer, Nadal and Djokovic pander to plutocrats and charge huge appearance fees. The "trickle down effect" means that tournaments like the Heineken Open now have to pay appearance money for racketeers that many of us have never heard of. It's close to extortion.
At the end of Federer's first round match at the Australian Open a fawning interviewer asked about his kids and if he had bought coach Stefan Edberg a birthday present - no, by the way, the privilege of knocking up with 'King Roger' was enough of a present apparently.
I think actually it a was a very nice match at parts and a well deserved win for the frenchman.
Loved the moment when Granollers made an out of this world volley at the 1st point of the 2nd set(ball's 2nd bounce was on Marcel's side) and crowd didn't react at all
RG is such a mess on the first wednesday ! Court 1 sounded like a playground, so many kids
Granollers played very well in the first set, exactly the way he had to bother Richie. And Richie wasn't playing great, far behind the baseline, short forhands, etc.
But he wouldn't give up so he fought and started to play better (20 something forehand winners ), and Granollers couldn't keep up with him.
He will have to play a lot better than in the first set against Bellucci.
NIce to see RIchie getting stronger throughout a match. He started off a bit tentative and not serving well but didn't let all those screaming kids bother him, hung in, stepped it up, held his nerve and finished in style.
Gonna need to bring his best next round. If he does it should be a good one. Keep on rolling RIchie!
