I was watching the match on the livestream, but not really watching. It was sometime during the second game when the chair umpire said "code violation: audible obscenity". He awarded a game automatically to Shabaz. At the change over he called for the tournament ref and then decided to default him.

It's too bad, since they kept playing to deuce games and it might have otherwise been a great match.

I didn't catch them during warmups so if Arevalo did something then, I didn't see it.

two more of my darkhorses looking strong. Escobar(though I am surprised he beat Doumbia so easily) and Kosakowski

also

Rola def Thacher 5-7 6-3 6-3 - this was a good match, Two lefties playing really well

Williams def Singh 6-3 6-4 - Straight forward win. Singh was probably tired.

news: Poldma pulled out and is replaced by De Klerk

Did anyone catch much of Domijan v Fanselow? I only caught the end and it looked like Domijan gave up. Fanselow is a fighter from the one match I saw him play but nothing he did particularly impressed me.

Final score: Fanselow d. Domijan 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Johnson rocks Kosakowski 6-2 6-1. The man is unbeatable

I was shocked to see Domijan go out like that. He seemed to have lost his fire

Today's results so far, according to the Stanford website

No. 1 Steve Johnson (1), USC, d. No. 37 Daniel Kosakowski, UCLA, 6-2, 6-1
No. 3 Rhyne Williams (4), TENNESSEE d. No. 32 Javier Garrapiz, GEORGIA 6-1, 6-1
No. 4 Blaz Rola (5), OHIO STATE, d. No. 43 Finn Tearney, PEPPERDINE, 7-5, 6-2
No. 5 Michael Shabaz (3), VIRGINIA, d. No. 33 Dean Jackson, SAN DIEGO, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4
No. 8 Henrique Cunha (8), DUKE d. No. 59 Luka Somen, VIRGINIA TECH, 6-1, 6-1
No. 9 Bradley Klahn, STANFORD, d. No. 17 Austin Krajicek, TEXAS A&M, 6-1, 6-4
No. 11 John-Patrick Smith, TENNESSEE d. No. 56 Jarmere Jenkins, VIRGINIA, 6-3, 6-1
No. 16 Austen Childs, LOUISVILLE d. No. 53 Alex Musialek, KENTUCKY, 7-5, 7-6 (3)
No. 21 Evan King, MICHIGAN, d. No. 26 Gonzalo Escobar, TEXAS TECH, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1
No. 28 Sebastian Fanselow, PEPPERDINE, d. No. 19 John Peers, BAYLOR, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2
No. 36 Marcel Thiemann, MISSISSIPPI d. No. 6 Eric Quigley (7), KENTUCKY 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5)

I removed the results for Nevolo v Nguyen and Sandgren v Damico because they are playing on court right now (obviously the wrong scores were copied over).

Also, Hernandez just beat Lacroix 6-2 in the 3rd.

Epic win for Thiemann over Quigley. 5th time the charm, Quigley had been 4-0 vs Thiemann. Williams crushed Garrapiz. Williams may win this, he is best when serving himself.

Round of 16 matches:

1 Johnson vs Smith - This could be a good one if Smith serves well. He dominated Jenkins today. Johnson pounded Kosakowski. Both players very much in form.

5 Rola vs King - 3rd meeting between these two. Rola was won both in tight 3 setters. king will try and pull it out this time.

3 Shabaz vs Childs - Last year's finalist childs vs Shabaz who barely won today. Very tight match

8 Cunha vs Nevolo - Cunha looks to be finding his form once again. Nevolo is dangerous, defeating a depleted Nguyen today.

Klahn vs Hernandez - Last year's champ Klahn looking strong. Hernandez had has two very long 3 setters in the 1st 2 rounds. Will he have anything left for Klahn?

4 Williams vs Gomez - Williams cruising thus far. Gomez likes to pick apart bad tempered players like Williams.

Sarmiento vs Thiemann - The two lowest ranked players left. Sarmiento entered this tournament ranked #47 and played #4 most of the season for USC. Very strong showing to make it this far.

Fanselow vs Sandgren - Loss by Domijan opened up this section

nations repped in round of 16:
8 USA- Johnson,King,Shabaz,Nevolo,Klahn,Williams,Sarmient o,Sandgren
2 Germany - Fanselow,Thiemann
1 Slovenia - Rola
1 Australia - Smith
1 New Zealand - Childs
1 Brazil - Cunha
1 Dominican Republic - Hernandez
1 Spain - Gomez

Great effort from JP Smith the other day against Johnson. Left everything on the line and he showed it but taking off his hat, shirt and laying his racket down after the match.

So we are now assured of an American victory, which means that the winner will likely receive a US Open wildcard. Teammates Williams and Sandgren meet and Shabaz plays Johnson.

Klahn the defending champ was beaten 6-4 6-4 by Williams today.

Funny/bad end to Johnson/Shabaz. Well anyway the final is Johnson-Williams.

Default Re: NCAA Individual tournament: Final: Steve Johnson vs Ryhne Williams.

Shabaz just walks off the court down 6-7 2-4 after a code violation penalty for ball abuse. Apparently he was livid at the supposed bad calls that were being made. Still ridiculous to quit in the semifinal.

Williams defeats his teammate Sandgren 6-3 3-6 6-0.

Johnson vs Williams. Winner will get the title NCAA champ and most likely a US Open wildcard as well.
