Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011
There's no real big favorite this year imo, there are a lot of "could win" songs.
If Europe "gets" it, then France will win this thing like bookies seem to think. Vocally it's stunning, it's an opera-like song. Not worth the odds tho (2.75 or something like that).
Bosnia seems to be very popular, but I don't know. It sounds a bit dull and like a typical Balkan song, if that makes any sense.
UK's song is very slick, boyband-like. Not getting many votes from Eastern Europe I think.
Estonia, Azerbaijan and Hungary are hugely overrated imo, although that's always dangerous to say with neighbor-voting going on.
I fancy Sweden & Russia to do very well. It will attract a lot of woman and gay voters.
Denmark is another strong outsider. Easy popsong, which will do very well (like last year).
My personal favorite is Slovenia by a mile. Surprised it's not doing well at the books, but that's probably because it doesn't have many voting"friends".

Some crazy results in the first semi.
But at least Norway is going home!

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011
Wow, I was under the impression that a country like Turkey would still qualify for the finale even if they would simply have a singer barf on stage. Looks like I was way off. I'm very happy for Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Finland, though.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011
The quality of this first semi was very poor. Can't see the winner coming from this semi.
Two songs that stood out for me were Georgia and Greece. Very powerfull and strong songs which will do well on Saturday.
Azerbaijan and Russia were dreadful vocally.
The Azeri have drawn a good spot for the final tho so expect it to finish top 5. Potentially it's a winning song (like Safura last year) but the performance kills it.
The Swiss were suprisingly good. Easy popsong which will get stuck in your head.
