My own philosophy of trying new foods: if it hasn't killed the natives for the last 50 years, I'll at least try it. I may not end up liking everything, but I'm sure I'll find some new delights

Yeah, you are right. I remember when I went to Greece and I didn't want to eat calamari... and it is one of my favourite foods already.

Re: Where does the best food come from?
What is important is which country puts the best food on the table, no matter where it was produced. Clearly that is France, but as the globe becomes more of a village, then the distinctions are blurred. I was in Hong Kong last week and ate at Alain Ducasse and Noba. The best of France and Japan in a single building in Hong Kong. Was I eating French, Japanese or just Chinese? It is no longer possible to tell.

Re: Where does the best food come from?
Don't find a mention of Vietnamese cuisine here.

Clearly? I beg to differ, even in Belgium you find better "French cuisine" than in France. Japan, to say just one, puts on average way better food on the table than wildly overrated France.

Many here can make the claim with some credibility, not your case unfortunately

This statement glaringly exhibits an almost epitomatic ignorance of abbysal depth.

With the many Italian immigrants, local food is actually very similar to Italian I'm very fine with that
