Bester's back, and is playing Savannah qualies, leading Joel Link of Germany in the 1st 52.

Bester takes it 62 62, will now face Mike McClune of the US.

McClune takes out Bester in 3, so no Savannah MD for Philip.

Lost love and three today to Tennys Sandgren in second round of American ITF Future tourney (in Florida on har-tru). Sandgren's been playing very well lately at this level but the Bester of a year ago would've of beaten him. Judging just from the scoreline, Philip's wasn't even in the match and would seem to have a ways to go (just) to get back to where he was.

how come Phil sucks? Why can't he just crack the top 200 already? I feel like he's not fulfilling his potential.

Sometimes I wonder why I answer some posts but he was injured for 10 straight months.

Solid win for Bester, over Phillip Simmonds 6-4 6-2. This after squeaking past Dennis Lajola in three close sets in the first round.

They've won the tourney. An excellent week of progress for Philip.

Another solid win of Simmonds, and by an identical 6-4, 6-2 score, this time on a hardcourt in Sacramento. Next is Devin Britton. Gets through that one and he would an unseeded player in the semis. McClune the only high seed left, on the other side of draw

Got to be careful with these college guys though, Meister would be ranked way higher if he played on the fuutres circuit, maybe higher than Bester now cuz of the injury.

Default Re: Phil Bester

is he Steve Meister's son? (Steve Meister was as high as World No. 21 in singles, according to ATP.com)

Just noticed that S. Meister, despite his career high (and No. 20 in doubles), made only 234,000 bucks in career earnings. even in the mid 1980s, money was 6, 7, 8 times less what it is now.

Britton was able to win. Will be interesting if Meister might win this event?
