I do think it is an important stat. It shows mental strength for one, it shows how you react to being put under pressure on your serve as well as showing how you respond when oppertunities come.

this was actually almost a straight sets loss because remember that eysseric served for it twice. Once before the tiebreaker and then again in the breaker he had set point at 7-6

It tends to normalize over long periods of time, yet 'we' look at the smallest of sample sizes and decide if a player is clutch or not. Strange to me, it seems like 'we' are putting too much emotion into numbers that are simply a small sample size.

My scoreboard was stuck at 2-1, I thought there was an injury.

thats true but lately vasek has been terrible on the big points. I dont know why ..i remember a match a whyile back when he saved almost every one against him but for the last while he's been extremely easy to break and been really poor on converting himself

and if you are really easy to break its not a good thing

6-7, 6-2, 5-2 eysseric

eyssseric 6-7, 6-2, 6-3

really the chances of him qualifying were little but this was a winnable first round and this is a disappointing loss

Yeah, thought he could win today.

Remember in Mexico I think, he save something like 17 BPs in a row about a month ago? Now on clay he is not saving them, but he is also losing way more points on serve.

The French can do quite well in their homeland, looks like that was maybe partly the case today, Vash played well in set 1, but his performace dropped off in the next 2, time to get ready for RG, although I don't like his chances in R1 there, it's doubtful he will draw someone with equal or worse ability on clay.

Well there were no CH's this week, this was his only option, unless he wen't the Futures route, but no player ranked as high as him would do that.

no, i know that but i mean in general. He's only qualified once and when he did he lost in straight sets in a match he wasnt really in. More often than not he's not even making the final round of qualies.

I kind of have this theory about vasek that he sees the success milos is having and is ..i dont want to say jealous but maybe feels like he should and can be doing the same things since they came up through juniors together

yeah, I remember hearing commentators for baseball talking the other day about how the runners in scoring position average is more of a made up stat because over time it tends to be very close to your average anyway. In other words being clutch is just a made up stat.

I would think the same is true for tennis on bp's. That it would tend to your overall points won on serve % over time. But it'd be cool to find out

Yeah, guess he can't accept his game isn't good enough yet.
