Re: Vasek Pospisil
#3 seed in Champaign, Illinois this week. 1st round against Denys Molchanov from Ukraine, ranked 277. Should be comfortable for Vasek.
I don't think anything less than the title here will do in order to gain direct entry into Melbourne.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
a win would get him about 99 but rycka, andi beck, matthias bachinger and possibly paire, ilhan, stebe and klizan, depending on how they perform in these last 2 weeks could surpass him. However its highly unlikely that they'd all perform that well
andi and matthias are probably the only ones among them all that would finish ahead of him so a win would see him finish the year around 101
but i think a final would also get him direct entry

Re: Vasek Pospisil
Good win in R1 for Vasek.
His draw got a little better with 2 of the seeds in his semi going out in R1.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
Nice to see Damian Cox give Vasek some love in Lou Marsh season. His show in Israel was one of the best sporting performances from a Canadian this year, though obviously it wasn't against top players.

Tough year to evaluate, in many ways. Going in, I know who I'd love to see win, but won't see win. But I would say it was the finest performance by a Canadian athlete I witnessed in 2011.
That came in September in Tel Aviv, Israel when Vancouver's Vasek Pospisil, previously known mostly for teaming up with Milos Raonic to beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in a doubles match the year before, nearly singlehandedly pushed Canada's Davis Cup team past the highly-ranked Israelis and into the World Group for the first time since 2004.
...
With big names like Patrick Chan out there, few will remember Pospisil's performance in today's Lou March voting. Heck, if a tennis player gets any votes, it will probably be Raonic.
But let it be noted here that Pospisil, to my mind, delivered a memorable and noteworthy performance that day in Tel Aviv. He won't win, and probably shouldn't, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't remember and acknowledge his achievement.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
the entry list for chennai qualies is just awful. Vasek really got lucky because anyone that could have stopped him is in another section of the draw. Id be stunned if he doesnt qualify, ill go so far as to say he doesnt drop a set

Re: Vasek Pospisil
Definitely a nice draw for Vasek, he should qualify, given his opponents. Good luck to him to start 2012

Re: Vasek Pospisil
That's a very easy draw for Vasek
makes me wonder though. I don't believe in fixed draws, and even though it would be stupid to fix a qualies draw, there are 6 indians in the worst(by ranking) top 4 seed, which also includes the worst(by ranking) 5-8 seed. That draw the way it is in theory would be the best chance for an indian to qualify

i dont believe in fixed draws either(anymore)but its when things like that happen that make me question it atleast. in a supposed completely random event sometimes things end up in such a way that it seems hard to believe that they ended up that way themselves.
but if they really wanted to make sure an indian qualified they could have crammed every one into one quarter..but that would be to obvious i sippose

They did cram as many as they could in one quarter. And, they were all cramed into the weakest quarter as far as the seed go. each quarter has 6 unseeded players. All 6 unseeded players in vasek's quarter are indian.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
no but i mean they could have just crammed one quarter completely with indian players and no matter what one was getting through. your right, they did do what they could but i mean nothing but indian players
