Re: Vasek Pospisil
Vasek rocks!
I joined the forum just to say that. I think he would have beaten Weintraub even if he had lost the second set. Imagine serving two aces per game even when your legs are tired.
Grant Connell had a similar performance against the Netherlands in 1990, but that was in Canada.
Go Pospisil!

Also quotes from his brothers
Quote:
On Friday, 27-year-old Peter, a teacher at Kitsilano Secondary, followed the fourth set against Sela in his car, then streamed the fifth set while teaching his morning Chemistry 12 class.
"I was trying to teach, but I had to explain to the kids why I was sweating and stressed," he said.
"It's been so emotional. I don't know how he did it because we are all exhausted."
[...]
But representing Canada, said Peter, has always been his younger brother's dream.
"It's unimaginable to think back how many years he's been thinking about it, and to have the deciding match on your racket, it's a huge deal for Vasek," he said.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
Vasek was a no show in Tashkent?
Not surprised he pulled out after the weekend he had but seems weird that no one was told. Or do they just but no show even if he just let them know he wasn't coming.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
that's weird indeed, you would think he would have contacted them telling them he wasn't gonna play

Re: Vasek Pospisil
Really to Vasek's credit that despite all the DC excitement and exhaustion, he still managed to tweet a message of encouragement for Polansky and Peliwo playing in the Futures.

Vasek's incredible DC performance is only going to do wonders for his career, or at least I hope so. We all know what DC did for Djokovic...

Re: Vasek Pospisil
I think Vasek has another brother if I'm not mistaken, named Tom. I have seen a couple of tweets back and forth between then on Twitter Seems like he has a big family!

Re: Vasek Pospisil
Sacramento and Tiburon.
Then two of the three indoor tournaments in USA, I guess? Charlottesville and Knoxville?

Re: Vasek Pospisil
The last part of his season scheduling may depend on his rankings, whether it's high enough to make the direct Aussie Open MD or not. If it doesn't look good, he would try to play as many tournaments(=5) as he can.
At this point,
1) Need 132 more points for 104th position
2) 52pts from the last year to defend
3) Based on the results in the upcoming tournaments, some of the current countable-lowests will be taken off : 8/8/10/15/15
So overall about (132 + 52 + 25~50) will be needed.

Re: Vasek Pospisil
all 5 of the current lowest wouldn't be replaced as the 3 results that are coming off in 2011 would be replaced first. so if he played 5 events and assuming all 5 counted, he'd need to get
132 + 52 + 16 = 200
so he'd need 200 points from 5 events assuming all 5 count and assuming the 104 spot has the same amount of points by years end as it does now.
he'd need...
192 counting 4 results
184 counting 3 results
177 counting 2 results
the last one because he has 7 points he can put into his countables to replace one of the 3 that comes out by years end if he only puts 2 more in
