I just checked the rankings, and Vasek has cracked the top 200. That is amazing! When is the last time Canada had two players inside of the top 200? And Bester and PLD ain't doing too bad either!

um...peter and milos were in the top 200 together early in the season ..and frank was there before him and still is

that would possibly mean that frank, milos and vasek are out for the rogers cup. Thats the top 3 canadian men there

and really leaves no viable options for wild cards except peter and philip

Aarrghh! Why does this have to happen? Now we have 4 of our top 5 guys out with an injury. And just during the summer season when there are all these Canadian tournaments.

I really hope it is only a mild injury (Tennis Canada is reporting it is his ankle).

Vashy is a solid player. I see him having a decent HC season all in all. I like how he has some volley ability and he's only 21 and he is in the top 200 already.

The Gazette provides a bit of information on the ankle situation.

"I don't know what happened; I just rolled my ankle," said the 21-year-old from Vancouver who fell to the court in pain. He received a medical timeout but, after consulting with a physiotherapist and a doctor, he retired.

"It's an old problem," Pospisil said. "I injured it in February and it's only in the last four weeks that it's been feeling good."

Fred Niemeyer, who is a national coach as well as Niemeyer's personal coach, said Pospisil has withdrawn from a challenger next week in Lexington but it was too early to tell how long Pospisil would be out of action.

"There's a tournament in Saskatoon the following week and then one in Vancouver," said Niemeyer. "He might be ready but first we'll get an MRI to see how badly he's hurt."

Vasek took a WC for the Canadian futures tournament this week and is seeded 1.
