Donald Young this thread is for you.

Edit: No it isn't as he isn't even good enough to be playing at the challenger level right now...

Yen-Hsun Lu is the obvious name for this thread.

Jan Hajek or Lukas Rosol came to my mind. Or Karol Beck nowadays, but it is because of his age.

B-Nard faces the dilemma of being too good for both levels of competition.

No, Ito is.

Lu is good enough for ATP level as long as he takes a break during the clay season.

Lu just doesn't like playing out of Asia. He has had some good Slam results so he is not apt at all.

Soeda is another one.

Surely the point is that if Lu was good enough to play exclusively ATP events he would never have to drop down to challengers?

No, lets see here. He is a clay clown so that is tourist season for him. You do know he made Wimbledon QFs and 3rd round twice at the Aus Open.

He is good enough to play ATP level, it's not like he has never won matches at that level unlike many of the guys mentioned. He works the system and just wants to play in Asia as often as he can.

Which guys mentioned haven't won at the ATP level but are too good for challengers?

Worth nothing Lu's made the last 32 in 2 Masters, one ATP 250 quarter final and has achieved nothing else this season. But hey, don't let facts get in the way.

I've already answered this, but you want to overlook Lu's results at the Slam level when it's clear he is good enough for the ATP on hardcourt and grass at the 250 level, but chooses the easy route in Asia.

Ito, Lorenzi, Soeda, Hajek, Ramirez Hidalgo these days are clear examples who aren't at Lu's level. You're the one who needs to understand facts.

None of those guys have won ATP matches? Are you sure? Seem to remember Lorenzi beating Paire the other week.

Remind me of Lu's amazing achievements this season please.

This season Lu's been kinda like "too good for Challengers but not good enough for the ATP level", but at other times he's been ATP standard.

If he could play Asian Futures events he would this season, but he has done more than enough at ATP level in his career.
