Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
Cilic duh . Dolgo has had a nice few years, but before that was really irrelevant. And to include Gulbis on this list is really an insult to Cilic.
Career-wise Cilic (8 titles, one GS semi and five Ro16)
Current level Cilic. He beat Dolgo in Umag.
Gulbis, by the way, has a negative career win-loss record.

Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
Gulbis is by far the most talented, so much potential there...
Dolgo is kind of overrated with his trickster style, Cilic is the best of them because he lives up to his somewhat limited potential.

Mugbis will never be decent, sadly.

I'd definitely say Dolgo is the most talented. He can be extremely aggressive and use a lot of angles and variety. And he has the quickest feet. Gulbis IMO is just power.
The other two are much more streaky than Marin.

Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
I think Ernests Gulbis has the most ability. I think his potential (or former potential) is streets ahead of Cilic and Dolgopolov. Better serve, power from the back, good touch. It's obvious that he's nowhere near as motivated as the other two, particularly Cilic. He's never been in great shape, he was certainly carrying too much fat at one point and his mentality is nonchalant.
Incredibly annoying considering tennis could really use a guy with such ability and colourful game style. I like the fact that he's primarily a back court player but likes to approach the net and hit drop shots.

Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
Gulbis is the most talented by FAR but he is a headcase. Cilic and Dolgopolov are pretty close I think talent wise but such different styles. all are very inconsistant with Gulbis being the most streaky.
I think Dologpolov will have the most success when all's said and done but GUlbis is such a waste of great talent, I mean we've seen him at his best and he can be incredible, i.e. a few years ago against Nadal and Federer

Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
Gulbis potential is really insane, he got incredible power from both wings and an amazing serve which could have become a real monster I think if he practiced more. His touch is also very good. I has more talent than any of the 4 great power players, somewhat ahead of Tsonga because Tsonga's backhand and movement doesnt have potential to be great and ahead of Berdych because of Berdych's poor movement and touch.
Gulbis is the greatest waste of talent of the whole 80s generation, Safin and Nalbandian atleast accomplished things on the tennis courts.

Cilic. He's the only one among these three who isn't a complete weirdo.

Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
I think Gulbis is more talented, but Cilic has had the better career, and has more upside than the other two as he actually takes tennis seriously.

Re: Who Is The Better Player? Cilic or Dolgopolov or Gulbis?
Talent-wise they are about the same, but to me Cilic has the most potential bcs of the style he plays and Ernests mug mental side.
Achievement-wise Cilic is miles ahead of Gulbis and Dolgopolov. Full stop.

You underrate Cilic's talent big time. Probably because he's not a conventional power tennis player; I mean, his serve is rather weak for a guy his size, his strokes not particularly powerful. On the other hand, he does have the best movement I've seen from a guy his size as well as return of serve (the reason why he owns pretty much every big server on tour). His movement makes JMDP (same height) look like an elephant on ice.
He does have flaws, but time to iron them out too. His late 2009/early 2010 performance weren't a fluke, I'm sure that, at the very least, he'll be a consistent feature in the top 8/10 for many years. Could be more than that if he can make his serve a weapon instead of a liability.

I said Cilic's potential was somewhat limited, I think you are right he could feature the top 8/10 for many years, but he doesnt have the potential to be top 5 or win 2-3 slams, he never had that potential.
Gulbis when I saw him as a 19-year old in RG 2008 and a match against Nadal in 1st round of Wimbledon that year, I thought he would win slams. He had it all, power from both sides, good movement, great drop shots and decent volleys and amazing serve. Well, I think Gulbis might be the worst overestimation I have done in my life but I didnt know his father was a bilionaire, I would have predicted his potential to be somewhat less taking in that factor...

Well, my expectations of Cilic at the moment are many years as a top 10 players with the possibility of winning a Slam. I used to be more optimistic about him when he came into the scene but now I expect no more than this. That said, he should be top 5 at some point. I mean, who is stopping him? Del Potro and Cilic are the only two active players under 25 years of age who even played a Grand Slam semifinal.
Fedal won't exactly last forever, and neither will Djokovic, although he should last longer. Cilic is the second best under 25 active player in terms of achievements and there are not that many youngsters showing superior potential/likelihood to succeed either, so I most definitely wouldn't bet against him breaking the top 5 at some point.
Gulbis is indeed an amazing talent, he's a guy you'd expect to win a Slam at some point. But his Wimbledon campaign this year sums him up really; played a fabulous match to eliminate Berdych on center court and then mugged out in the next round. I'm afraid he will never reach his full potential. Your assessment was correct though, he was a guy one would expect to be very successful on the basis of his talent and game alone.

He won two tournaments without beating anyone from top 20 while when facing better ranked player he can't neither make a competitive match. When he beat Isner in Madrid it looked like great win but after Isner lost next 5 matches or so it wasn't that impressive anymore. In the past at least he had a chance against top players but he choked it often, now he isn't capable neither for get the chance. If you can win a slam just with beating bad/average players long live our Marin
