Nole's number one! And >2000 points ahead of Rafa too!

Yup and USO is coming where Rafa is defending the title... if Novak plays well, he could have a nice cushion for the next year. Maybe too good to be true, but heck, why not

Re: 2011 Updated ATP Rankings Thread
He actually did. Someone calculated it compared to Federer's highest ever awhile back (I think it's actually in this thread) before they doubled the points and it came out pretty close, I don't remember the actual number.

It is not too good to be true. Rafa will not defend USO (quote me if you like), and novak will atleast make the semis

Yeah, but the way they calculated points was weird then. They got more points than they do now, even if was only half technically.

Re: 2011 Updated ATP Rankings Thread
3300 points for top 10. That would put you comfortably in the #7 slot today. Sad that todays top 10 spot has 1200 less points.

Re: 2011 Updated ATP Rankings Thread
I think, it was slightly inflated by the point system change, and was still in the transitional period, if you compare it with this year's.
ex) A title of the International series 175 in '08 = 350(175x2) in '09, which should be only 250 by the new system.
SF in a grand slam means 450 in '08 = 900(450x2) in '09, but 720 by the new one.
The old system guarantees more pts in early rounds. In normal circumstances, that means lower ranked players would be benefited than the other way around. Though, as I said, it can't make up for a gap such as 1200 pts.

The difference between the Big 4 and the rest of the field is amazing. Over 4000 points difference. Not anywhere near as big atm, but it's still pretty big. About 2500 points.
