I saw a match of his at the tail end of last year. Glued to the baseline. I remembered him more all-court but alas, he changed his style I guess.

Zverev is hardly fit these days, he retires more than a WTA player.

Red letter period? Two really interesting threads in 2 days? (yours and Statracket's). Nice work.

Monfils SHOULD be an all-court player, but it takes elephants charging from behind his back to get him anywhere even close to the baseline. Just diffuses all that athletic ability

Heck this era needs more S&V. Kudos to Llodra (and, yeah, vade retro WTA, Mauresmo) for making it to the top 25 with an outdated style AND being over 30.

its not simple. he must improve his strokes if he is to make it more safe going aggressive. also his athletic ability is made of most use playing further back, so is a safe haven mentally not easy to abandon.

Yea!! The big fella certainly has te potential to be a consistent all-courter.

disagree with quite a few and you seem to give plump for offensive when players are 50/50 but good effort nonetheless.

zverev is pure pusher nowadays. he used to sv a lot especially on grass but now he's undoubtedly a defensive baseliner. admit i haven't seen him play in quite a while though

I've updated the OP with a table that shows the playing styles by nations in the top 100.

You can view it here as well:

He can't be a defensive baseliner simply because he can't reach more than 3 balls consecutively.

Good thread .

Disagree with few

Ljubicic- more all courter than offensive

Troicki- counter-puncher

Granollers- more offensive than defensive

Stepanek-all court

Rochus- defensive

It's hard to put Berrer, Brands and Kendrick in all courters because their defensive abilities are very poor

and guys like Chardy, Gulbis and Tursunov are more like ball bashers than offensive baseliners

I'd say Nadal is still primarily a defensive baseliner.

Nadal is more defensive than offensive and Djokovic, Del Potro and Murray depend entirely on whoever their opponent is.

Nice premise but the categories are far too limited. Half of the players listed as offensive baseliners are hardly offensive at all.
