I've gone off coffee cold turkey before. Wasn't a pleasant experience at all. Trouble is that drinking coffee doesn't affect my sleeping at all so the motivation to stay off coffee is zilch.
|
ahh yeah. i agree. i drink enough water that its diuretic effects don't leave me dehydrated and i drink it black, so i don't consume sugar with it and rot my teeth. so it's sleep that's my motivation.
day 1 - so far, so good. fingers crossed.

You are young to have the problem. I remember drinking coffee right before going to bed well into my 30s. But at some point, I couldn't do that anymore, and then it was not drinking coffee after 9 p.m. until now when I don't drink caffein at all normally after 2 pm or maybe 3 if I feel, you know -- dangerous and edgey.
I've decaffeinated several times. Even when I was drinking 12 cups of coffee a day, it only made me drowsy and headachy for one day. After that it was fine.

surely the dumbest people around are capable of pulling some lines that make sense once every full moon. Acknowledging it is stupid though, you make them believe that they're actual good posters and they will brag around about many poeple agreeing with their views. I am a 100% certain you'd have that tool on ignore if he happened to live through Fed instead of Rafa...

Re: The RafaChat for the Banned -- Past, Present, and Future. Vol. 70
A bishop who has admitted sexually abusing his own nephew - condemned by the Vatican to leave the country (cruel punishment, I'm sure) to live in France in the Loire area (a.k.a. French Siberia) - has done an interview where he downplays the sexual abuse as "only a game, it was not as if it was brutal sex or anything like that".
That boy was abused 13 years long, from the age of 5. Yeah, I'm sure he sees that as "just a game" too.
Then, he admits to having abused another nephew as well, but that didn't last long, he says. Only a year or so.
Yeah, being abused for one year is nothing really.
He's a sick and evil bastard, that's what he is.
And of course, as usual, the reaction from The Vatican is deafening.

Re: The RafaChat for the Banned -- Past, Present, and Future. Vol. 70
What I don't get in this all is the following:
This bishop is still a priest and can still perform as such + he gets paid as a bishop (not too shabby, I might add, tax payers money).
Now, a couple of years ago, a priest admitted to being gay and having a relationship. The reaction from the church was condemning and swift: that priest was thrown out of the church, he could no longer be a priest because he was admitting to sin, breaking the celibacy rules, yadda yadda yadda.
Can somebody explain to me why a man admitting to having a loving relationship with another man, a consenting adult, leads to a swift reaction and the priesthood is taken away from him while another man admitting to sexually abusing children can still be a priest, is still very much part of the church and he's sent to the Loire area to contemplate his sins with psychological help but "to forgive" is important to the church so he's still part of the club.
Gosh, this angers me.

The way Church acts defies explanation and it makes me even more angry as it gives munition to all of those that hate religion and are willing to put the "=" between Church and Faith.
What i don't understand is :sexual activity with children is not breaking celibacy?

IIRC, that gay priest could have remained a priest if he had admitted to being a sinner, put an end to his relationship, stop having gay sex (that priest said in the media that he didn't think that being in a loving relationship with another consenting adult was wrong).
The bishop has admitted to sexually abusing his nephews and he has admitted that it was wrong (although he downplays it by saying that it was only a game, he didn't think that the boy (the one he abused 13 years) was against it, etc.)
Apparently, there's a difference there but I don't get it.
-
Another thing I don't get. If you have read the New Testament in particular (as I have, having grown up as a catholic) and you read how Jesus acted and reacted to people (to the weak, the poor, the ill, the needy, to children, to those abusing power, to criminals, to prostitutes, to the greedy,...), how can you preach out of the bible and act totally differently? I seriously wonder how that works out in their minds.
One of the reasons why I stepped out of the church is the contradiction I saw between what I read in the bible and what I saw in the church.
It quickly lost credibility for me.

Yeah, we have this saying here you should act as the priest says not as priest acts
