Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?
i'd rather hope there won't be another nadull. his style of play is boring and you rarely get the feeling that he outclasses anyone on the court. he just wins because of his natural physical talent.

Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?
Federer is a once in a lifetime thing.
So after we die, there's gonna be another one (or 2 or 3 or 4 or 20).

It's a legitimate question. Noone - or at least noone I noticed so far - is already 'burying' Federer with it.
As for the question itself - when looking at achievements, remember the days of one Pete Sampras?
Not that very long ago... and when he racked up his GS title #14, lots of people, fans, journalists and pundits alike, thought that that record would be one for the ages. Well, only ten years later... you know the rest of the story. Things change fast in tennis.
As for whether there will ever again be a player playing Federer's style of tennis - that's pretty hard to say, as it will be difficult to judge whether there will indeed be a player around even trying to master all of the shots like he did, as there is no need for that anymore with the modern technology and court speeds/bounces. I do hope so.

Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?

Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?
If we are not going to measure achievements at all, of course. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it will be very difficult for someone to have a complete game like Roger's prime.
Personally, Dolgopolov is a joy to watch but there's close to 0% chance he will be a slam winner in this era.

As a species dependent on technological advancement, there will be a convergence at some point in the future where everyone will be the same.

Why do all Canadians rip on Dancevic on every opportunity? He plays a beautiful game, and his progress has been hampered by injuries and the slow courts/balls more than anything. Just disappointment that he never reached his potential, or has he said or done something?

I don't think many people miss Sampras by the way.
Federer is a different animal. Does the question refer to achievements only? I don't care much for those. As for style of game and beauty, then yes, Federer will be missed and I guess he will be very hard to replace. But you always create new allegiances with new players for different reasons. I'm not a Fed fan but I don't want him to go away. He's done so much for the sport. Now, does that mean that other players are not equally enjoyable? of course they are! Some people here for nostalgia's sake may pretend that he is the only player worth watching and that's utter bullshit.
Now I believe Roger will still give some battle... he's not finished by any means.

Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?
Nadal may be capable of breaking his record. But is this off topic or count for the question asked?

Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?
Nadal? pfft.
Nole will break Roger's records like it was nothing. This Federer was just a mug preclude to the Age of Novak.
