Good to see some fellow Stebe fans

Cedrik said in an interview back on Thursday that the goal for next year is top 60, I think that won't be too difficult to achieve, considering he is now ranked 81. It would be great if he could break into the top 50 sometime next year though.

Started the year playing 10k futures and ended it with a 85k paycheck. Not bad.

Don't know if it's so smart to start playing ATP-tournament right away.
We have numerous examples of guys that had great year on challengers, but failed the next year on ATP.

I think he should mix it up and hope he will.

There's a German interview with Stebe where he said sth about his scheduling:
http://www.tennisnet.com/deutschland...London/3242541

"[...]Ich werde dabei etwas mehr als zwei Drittel der Turniere auf der ATP-Tour spielen, den Rest Challenger."

"I'll play a bit more than two thirds of the tournament on the ATP tour, the rest being Challengers."

I only think he should have played Chennai in this week as the Brisbane field is way better. I mean, there are only two challengers that week, Sao Paulo is for the SA guys and Noumea isn't the place every of the Challenger guys wanna go. I'm sure in February he'll go back to some challengers (or play SA clay swing).

Stebe plays Hewitt in round 1 at the AO
Good draw I think, he'll get a night session on RLA and the opponent isn't unbeatable.

I have no idea what happened at the end against Becker but somehow he won

Sad to see Becker injured again, but I'm a little concerned and disappointed that he couldn't have lasted another game. I never like to see people retire so close to the end. Brings back memories of that Tipsa-Seppi fiasco in Eastbourne last year.

Shouldn't detract from a good win for Stebe. It was by no means pretty, but he came from multiple match points down and a break down in the final set to record a win over a fantastic player.

After losing his first three matches of the season in Australia, including a tough four-setter to Hewitt at AO, he made the semis of the Heilbronn challenger, including the 6-1 6-4 defeat of Berrer in the semis. But after that, he lost four straight MD matches before winning his first round match in Miami 6-3 7-5 over Cipolla, his first career Masters 1000 victory

He lost in the second round to Gasquet 3-6 7-6(6) 2-6 and has a 5-8 overall record this season. Unfortunately ATP hardcourts have been a little bit tough for Cedi but hopefully with the tour turning to clay it will bring him better results. His next scheduled tournament is in Casablanca in two weeks from this Monday. Hopefully this little break will help Cedi clear his head of some of the losses so far this season and prepare fully for the upcoming clay season!

I watched the Miami match vs Gasquet in its entirety, and though for much of it it was painful viewing, I did find myself grinning a lot, and that's a positive reflection on his game. He's got attacking intent, he takes risks, it's fitting really that he displayed it against Gasquet, the complete opposite of him. Despite losing, Cedrik showed off enough guts to make me believe that he's ready to kick on after stagnating for a couple of months.

Casablanca-Rome CH-Bucharest-Munich is a pretty sensible clay season schedule for me. There's maybe room for entry into one more challenger before RG, but I don't see the point in overplaying. I've stressed before the importance of mid-tankers playing enough challengers to hold their ranking, while going after the big boys in the stronger events enough to keep motivation levels high, and of course there's always chance that anyone can win a few rounds at a slam or a 1000 event.

Stebe is OUT of Casablanca Just when "his" clay court season starts, he probably gets injured?
