Out of top 4 i'd say Soderling has by far the hardest one, even some unseeded players are dangerous there.

Stepanek vs. del Potro in first round And then maybe Ljubicic cs del Potro
Mayer again vs Golubev just like in Dubai but Golubev could be fired up because of the Davis cup just like Chardy
Wawrinka vs Davydenko maybe in 2nd round

RRH has to beat Mello! Take revenge for Santiago, Ruben.
Bjorn is playing Michi, and I love both, but Bjorn needs this. And then look for him to push R. Soderling to the brink in R2.
Rainer has to beat Haase in R1.
Raonic I think will have a tougher time to succeed here because, although the air is dry, the courts are extremely slow, and reportedly even slower than last year. We'll see if he can manage.
Tomic I think has a great shot at causing upsets with his draw and making it to R4.
Del Po has a horrible draw on paper, but personally I think it's very manageable if he plays well, and I expect a good run from him.
Hopefully Don qualifies and draws Riba/Granollers/Marchenko/Zverev.

As for the top guys, Nadal and Fed got nice draws. Nole's is little tricky. Roddick has a good draw on paper to the QF. Murray has a very easy first two-three or so rounds on paper, but who knows what shape and form he'll show up in. I don't expect much from Soderling either, so I believe that Del Po and Verdasco are the top favorites in that section.

The annoying part is not Soderling having a tough draw, the annoying part is Murray just having to put his shoes out on court to recieve 180 points. Also, there is new round basically every day(at best 6 matches in 7 days), so I think you'd rather take a double bagel against some mug than go through Kohlschreiber/Delpo/Dolgo in maybe three hard fought sets. Is Murray favorite to make the quarters no matter the draw? Absolutely, but having a cakewalk early on certainly helps come quarters and onwards. |
