Hope it all works out ok for your dog Marti
Must be so frustrating and upsetting not knowing for certain what the problem is.

AJ... how is your computer now? You've managed to get it booted up now then? Technology sucks sometimes!

Joâo was very sceptic when I told him (he said "speculation again and this means they don't have a clue what's wrong") but when I told him about your post he got more convinced
He does show a lot of symptoms of Lyme disease:
- the spleen is a lot too large
- slight anomality in the kidney function
- exhaustion
- sweating & slavering
- infections to ears and eyes that keep coming back after treatment
- stomach problems
- problems with jumping

They will treat him with Amoxicilline 500mg for 1 month.
Only thing I regret is that I'm talking about Lyme disease possibility to the vets since January already (real risk since we live in the woods) but they said that it wasn't the right season for a tick infection...
Excellent! I am glad you did not have to insist it of them Season shmeson; it appears he is showing effects of being bitten long before. Very early on one can miss the first stage of the disease and then with incubation the second and third phase comes out. I hope this is the cause and that the treatment works. The dog may never be perfect for showing again but that is not all there is too it is there

I'm not going to show that last sentence to my husband because it is his best competition dog...

What I have to add is that he only shows the symptoms when he has to work hard during the training. At home or when I take him for a walk, he acts normally.
Also from the outside he seems to be in good health (shiny coat & good muscles) and I guess that's why the vets thought there was nothing serious.
It was only when I took a video of the training and showed that to them that they realized there was something seriously wrong.
If he wouldn't have been a working dog, I wouldn't have noticed it. That's why I'm hoping we are in time to treat it without too many consequences afterwards?? What do you think?

Well I only have experience on people
But here is hoping that if he acts normally when not in training that all will be well. I hope it is the Lyme disease as it appears all other avenues have been evaluated. Keep the faith!!

Martine, I hope the treatment will help the dog. I'm crossing my fingers.

Sue, work's been hectic here too, hence why I hardly appear here, and no, I don't have any modem or computer pb Only positive point is that the sun is back and it's been feeling like spring for a couple of days. It helps

What a worrying time for you: not only is he a "working" dog - you also become attached to him regardless of how he performs. Hope the vets can make him fit again!

Pretty sure the treatment will help him; his future as a "working dog" is in doubt though. If I were in your position, I'd be worried indeed about what might happen if someone ignore your psychological attachment to the dog. Perhaps a frontal crash test ahead.

Still, I'm addicted to the paper-and-pencil. Clearly, more manually manipulatable flexible stuff.

Lucho was awful in his match yesterday, hard to watch it. As for my technical problems, well they are almost over, just need to transfer some files and that's a slow process.

Yes, and that’s what is causing me nightmares right now
I’ll never get used to it when a dog has to leave and fortunately this doesn’t happen too much.
Joăo knows I’m very attached to the dogs so, when a young dog isn’t good enough for competition, he accepts that I take my time to find him a good home.

But the difference is that we’re not talking about a 6 months old here that still easily adapts to a new home.
Fun is a very dominant 2.5 yrs old dog that adores his own family but doesn’t like strangers at all so it would be impossible to place him with inexperienced people.
I raised him since he was a 6 weeks old puppy and I want him to stay.
But Joăo will never keep him if he can’t compete with him moreover since we already have 2 retired dogs he’s keeping only because of me.

This is Fun when he was 1 year old.

Good to see you have plenty of photos, next time Peta at the AO, there needs to be a photo with the King and you need to do the dance.
