Moral grounds belong in the realm of reason, not emotions. Star's asking about the latter.

People link moral grounds to emotions, though.
People feel emotional about it so they'll claim a higher moral ground.
Like many that will look down on others who eat cat and dog flesh and a couple of hours, they're munching on a beef steak. I find that hypocritical.

are you trying to get me to say that I'm a cannibal?

No. You don't have to eat it yourself, but if your argument is "meat is meat" and it makes no difference what animal it comes from, why are humans exempted? I'm just asking from a purely rational viewpoint and not an emotional one.
I'm just trying to see where you draw the line.

I don't like those milk-fed piglings. I only had once and I literally vomited it all And it was such a fancy dinner... I think it was last time when i got adventurous. 5 years ago

I try to save my adventurous eating for vegetables.
I'm quite squeamish about meat. I do like pork quite a bit and I feel bad for all the little porkers I've consumed. I don't eat it as often as I'd like.
But sad to say, I'm too lazy to become a vegetarian.

meat is meat, star.
Including human flesh. Certain cultures have eaten human flesh. Why should I condemn them when I've eaten the meat of cows, pigs, horses? Why should I place certain creatures above others?
The request I would have before eating it would still be that the animal, human or not, would have a decent life and a merciful death.
Question answered. Stop pushing me in a certain direction.

That meat discussion....ewwwww.....
But Hilde is right, I have myself translated some EU directives about keeping animals and animal protection, transportation and stuff and I hope it's all OK in the EU countries.
Talk to you tomorrow!

I'm not pushing you in any direction. I'm just trying to get a clear answer. Is your answer that it wouldn't bother you to see human meat for sale in a butcher shop?

Very much so. I can't rationally explain my red lines and I think any attempt at explanation trying to make a difference between one animal and other is just BS. I have no rational for not eating cat and dog while I eat beef or pork, it's just emotional.

Again, my position is that if you eat certain kinds of meat or you agree that others eat certain kinds of meat, you have no moral higher ground over others eating other kinds of meat.
|
i interpret this to mean, rationally speaking, you don't claim a moral higher ground over those who practice cannibalism. i can see the argument against meat eating pushed to fall in line with this, actually.
but do you draw the line between plants and animals? i.e. do you see space for a vegetarian to make the claim that they have a moral higher ground over meat eaters because they are plant eaters?

Exactly. It is emotional. It's an emotional reaction that I have to eating snakes or bugs or intestines or brains or cats or monkeys. Obviously, if I were starving, these things wouldn't mean a damn to me. It's just what I can stomach (no pun intended) living the protected life I live.

You are pushing me in a certain direction because I've answered but you don't like my answer so you keep pushing so I'm going to leave it here.
If I can handle seeing slices of cow, I can handle seeing slices of human. Cows aren't lower creatures for me.
The only request I have: give all creatures a good life and a merciful death.
I'm going out.
