MTFers in college tennis
I think there should be some people that play for college, so maybe they can update us with their progress.
I play for NAIA school in Mid-West and yesterday in my first match of the season our team got destroyed 7-2 by D1 school, but I got a straight set win over 3-star recruit according to tennis recruiting.
Don't really want to post the names of the schools in this thread, but you can PM me and I'll answer

Nice thread Dart Marcus. I play for D-1 school Wisconsin-Green Bay, #2 singles...me and the team are both 3-1 so far. Beat Western Illinois, Northern Illinois, and IUPUI. Lost to Dartmouth.

That's awesome. It would be cool if you posted some of your personal experiences in here. Like match updates and how good your opponent was and stuff like that.

Ok will do! We play Dayton and Ball State this weekend. Dayton shouldn't be too much trouble but Ball State is tough, they're close to beng ranked and I got crushed by Cliff Morrison of their team last year 6-1 6-3...not sure if he'll play 1 or 2 against us this weekend as he's been alternating with another guy but I'm hoping he'll play 1!

Haha no way, you played Patrick Hammers?
Yep, just looked at his record and you beat him 1 and 5, nice work Mark Zubov! Good to see another college tennis player is obsessed to enough with pro tennis to look at this forum.

Re: MTFers in college tennis
UWGB 7, Dayton 0
I played 2 again and beat Joe West 6-4 6-2. Pretty good match, I didn't get broken once which is extremely rare for me. Tomorrow we have Ball State which will be a good test for us, they're favored for sure but I think we have a chance!

Re: MTFers in college tennis
Played D3 Indiana Wesleyan today. 4 players from our team got suspended for different reasons.
I am a bit sick, so I played only no.1 doubles against no.4 team in the nation and lost 8-5, one break down.
2mrw match should be better!!

I finally tampered with my sig and found a better font so that the 'r' and 'l' in Soderling doesn't have a gap between!

Re: MTFers in college tennis
UWGB 3, Ball State 4
They were pretty tough, we lost the dubs point close, it came down to 1 doubles and they lost in a tiebreaker.
In singles, I played 3 today and won my match 6-3 2-6 6-4. I played a French guy that resembled Monfils, super athletic, huge guy, and the whole match was a complete push fest. We also won at 5 and 6. Came down to 4 singles, our guy lost in the third set 6-2...good nonconference battle though.
Hopefully we can win the more important matches in conference!

Re: MTFers in college tennis
Cleveland State is the strongest in the horizon league correct?
also i just saw that you beat Pohlmann of Wisconsin last year. That's a very good win. Pohlmann was a strong player. Would you say that is your best win in college?

Yeah, Cleveland State has won the Horizon League the last 3 years...we're hoping to change that trend this year though. They lost their best two players, Orno and Hamning, off last year's squad to graduation and we've added a few guys so I think it'll be possible.
And thanks, yeah Pohlmann is for sure the best player I've beaten in college, but I don't think that was the best match I've played....I got a little lucky that day tbh (it was his third match of the day.) I played a great first set, won it 6-3. Then he went up 5-1 in the second and started cramping really badly, I started to comeback but got super tight probably because I realized what a big win it'd be. Ended up losing the set 6-3, but then won the superbreaker 10-2, hit like 4 or 5 drop shot winners since he was cramping so bad. Definitely not the prettiest of ways to win a match, but a win is a win I guess!

Re: MTFers in college tennis
GB 7, IPFW 0
Played 2 singles, won 6-7 (10), 6-2, 6-0. Rough first set kind of but pulled through. Team won easily, 1 singles had a battle and the doubles point was closely contested as well. We play Purdue tomorrow now!

Re: MTFers in college tennis
Looks like Grren Bay won their confernce. Our friend here (smanpm20) has been playing #1 for them lately. They get Pepperdine in the tournament. Looks like you will be facing #9 Sebastian Fanselow.

Hey Clemson Tennis,
Just happened to come across this today. We'll play in about 3 hours, pretty excited! Will obviously be a tough match today, but we'll give them our best shot and play to win.
