I didn't expect him to lose a 6-1 set to Nieminen ...good win though

Frustrating that Sharkko got such a tough R1, but oh well, good for Pics.

Oh, I stopped watching after the first set as Jarkko was spraying errors. No idea what happened in the 3rd

A Pics match without some kind of drama ain't really a Pics match, the guy does love to grind

What's important? he got the victory and that's all that matters

We're in a changing world if Ferrer really started tanking sets in slams.

Two first sets it was clearly Pics game, he was just solid and there was not much Jarkko could do with game he was playing (too many UE). Then Jarkko was great in start third and Pics wasn't expecting it and it obviously affected him mentally when Jarkko seemed to get some momentum and Jarkko won set even if he wasn't able to play supergreat after gaining 3-0 lead. But in fourth, Pics was again himself and Jarkko on the otherhand wasn't able to play great game he played start of third and his game actually started to somewhat break, which obviously led deserved win for Pics. Would have been interesting fourth if Jarkko could have kept his game together, but not this time I guess.

Ferrer can gain some points here with a QF appearance...that could cement him as a top 10 fixture a little while longer. Interesting to see if he can do it.

Vamos David! On paper a very tricky opponent, one of the highest non-seeds. But you did it again. Go for the QF against Nadal!

Good win for Ferru, faced a tough opponent for a first round match and glad to see him progress.

I just learnt this new nickname for Ferrer... Polvorilla. Heard a commentator say it.
Love it.
