Hewitt vs. Djokovic debate
In career achievements?
People thought Roddick and Hewitt were close with an edge to Hewitt, so this should be tight.
Both 2 slams.
Djokovic never been number one, but im sure thats coming, and a lengthy stint.
Both won the TMC/WTF.
Defending titles was neithers strong point.
Both made similar number of GS finals.
Both have been denied at slams by Federer heaps in early stages and in finals.
Both have been denied of furthering slam runs by Rafael.
This should be tight.
At this point id give the slightest tiniest edge to Hewitt, but I think its inevitable Djoker will eclipse Hewitt, and he may not have to win another slam to do so.
Discuss.
Novaks biggest scalp is probably that he has been to the semis or better of all grand slams.

Federer is a clown who only beat mugs, making his slam victories less meaningful.
Now since Nadal won many of his titles against a clownish Federer, it means Nadal's victories are also cheapened.
And finally, since Nole beat a clownish Nadal in many of his slam victories, his achievements are further cheapened.
Conclusion: everyone is a clown, playing in a neverending clown era.

Re: Poll: Has Djokovic eclipsed Hewitt yet?
djoker twice beat fed in straights, en route - if that counts for anything. otherwise, W and USO is > 2xAO, so Lleyton

Lleyton edges him. But Novak has a long time ahead of him to surpass Hewitt and many others.

Not yet but in a year people will be going Hewitt who? The Djoker is on a mission, he wants more majors and I have a feeling he will get what he wants.

Re: Poll: Has Djokovic eclipsed Hewitt yet?
It is close - Hewit´s W and US open is maybe better than 2x AO, but GS is not everything- Hewitt has edge in that he was No.1 in world, Djokovic wasn´t, but don´t forget Hewitt biggest achiements came in era without Roger- Rafa and he was No.1 in transitional era just like Roddick - Roger just wasn´t that great player, and Rafa wasn´t at ATP tour, and Hewitt was great in beginnings of his career than he wasn´t so great. So Djokovic 2 AO titles are in harder more competitive times with FEDAL here, Djokovic also had more Master 1000 titles -Hewitt was in 7 finals and won 2xIW- only 1 Master tournament in whole career. and Djokovic already at his age 23 was in 11 finals and won 5 of them.. So it is close but every tournament and with every bigger succes will Novak getting the edge over Hewitt.

Re: Poll: Has Djokovic eclipsed Hewitt yet?
I know Hewitt is on the decline and has been since 2006. And it's great that Novak won another Aussie Open.
BUT, we can't dismiss Heiwtt's achievements of being number 1 for two years in a row and winning the Davis cup at least twice if not 3 times. Hewitt also won the Masters cup when it was still a best of 5 set final - won a 5 set thriller against Juan carlos Ferrero in 2002.
Putting aside any transition arguments, right now Hewitt has achieved more than Djokovic.
Of course, Djokovic now has the potential to win around 6 slams to compare with the likes of Edberg and Becker. But I would really like to see the Djoker get to number 1 for a sustained period of time, that's important for a debate like this.

You nailed it. The fact that Novak got his two slams in the Fedal era proves he's much more accomplished as a player than Hewitt or Roddick.
Plus he still has his better years ahead of him.

Re: Poll: Has Djokovic eclipsed Hewitt yet?
Djokovic never beat Fed in a slam
He did beat monoFed in 2008 and Olderer in 2011
And Hewitt is still ahead, but another slam for Djokovic would move him ahead, imo.

and Peak Fed beat Chokovic in 2007, and Slumpovic in 2008 and 2009, so it kinda evens out

I agree with this. 2 different slams are more impressive than 1 slam. Djokovic has never been close to winning RG, W or US. The fact that he also hasn't reached No.1 yet makes me give Hewitt the slight edge.
