A minimum wage, full-time employee makes about $22K/year - with child credits, she's probably paying very little tax, but if she's paying more than $10 tax, she's probably paying more than Milos....

Just like Lady Gaga is contributing to the Canadian economy, eh? Oh wait, but she does not have her vocal coach paid for by a Canadian entity... by the way, isn't Milos getting paid to play Davis Cup tennis?
What's wrong with the picture...Canada, and Canadian entities, are and have provided financial support, but maximize earnings, even if it means you don't contribute back to Canada via taxes...
Daniel Nestorovic is also a non-resident, isn't he?
Canadians should know more about Milos .... this is the forum to discuss Milos, that's what we're doing...

Re: Milos Raonic
Personally, I'd take either the cashier lady or Milos over people acting like something quite common (athletes relocatng to pay less tax), is somehow a new piece of shocking news. 10 of the top 25 players have relocated to other countries with more favourable taxes. I think the rate for Formula One drivers is higher. Hardly news.
Anyway, looks like Milos will be up first tomorrow evening, so a 10PM eastern match. Anyone see anything about TV coverage? I haven't, but I was hoping Sportsnet would pick it up.

I'm glad we can get back to talking about matches. 10 pm works for me but if Sportsnet doesn't carry it, illegal streams will do.

But how do illegal streams help the Canadian economy?

Canadians are happier with Milos winning. Happier people are healthier. Healthier Canadians use less health care services and saves Canadian government money

Re: Milos Raonic
Good win over Russell.
Look, I know many Canadians are inspired by the guy and it's good for the sport if his results get more people playing this summer.
However , as a Monaco resident, the only taxes he paid was for his 65K Rogers Cup paycheck.
He's "giving back to the community" like any middle class citizen.
Tennis Canada used to pay for his coach, physio and travelling expenses.
He's basically in debt vs Canada right now.
There's no way to know where the money came from for his donation but he had that little exhibition in Toronto.
The "teams" gave 165K.
His parents do all the work, he shows up for a press conference, most likely give others people money and use the whole thing as PR good will move for himself. As I said, good for the kids to get that 70K but Milos isn't fooling me.

He won't be fooling a lot of people. Maybe his dad can write a book on how to save money... start with the ball machine rental in the early mornings and then talk about declaring non-residency to avoid paying taxes to a country that supported you... most of the posters on this thread would certainly purchase the book

Re: Milos Raonic
Getting back to tennis, Milos won 7-6 (0), 6-3 to get into the semis.

Re: Milos Raonic
Very impressive stuff against Querrey tonight, his returning was about as effective as I've seen it, especially against a guy that had beat him a couple of times. Hopefully he can play as well against Haas tomorrow

Re: Milos Raonic
I wonder which February tournaments Raonic will play next year. If he really does prefer indoor tennis he should go to Europe. And play Zagreb/Montpellier (preferably Zagreb), Rotterdam and Marseille.
I realise it also depends on where Davis Cup first round is played. But to only play Memphis 250 seems unwise
