Both Diez and Duclos are in the Q's of the Slovak Challenger. Duclos faces #6 seed Javier Marti and Diez faces unseeded Robert Januch from Slovakia.

Young Alejandro Tabilo had a good week, winning both singles and doubles in his U14 tournament in Italy. He beat his doubles partner in the singles final.

Canadians ranked in top 500 - June 6 rankings:

28 Raonic, Milos (CH 25)
162 Dancevic, Frank (CH 65)
211 Pospisil, Vasek CH!
240 Polansky, Peter (CH 164)
245 Bester, Philip (CH 238)
350 Chvojka, Erik (CH 343)
450 Diez, Steven (CH 407)
494 Duclos, Pierre-Ludovic (CH 259)

Congratulations to Vasek for another career high. He overtakes Peter as Canada's #3. Poor Peter - to think that just last fall he was the top Canadian! Philip is poised to overtake him too.

Congratulations to Kelsey Stevenson too, who enters the rankings at 1,217 (with 3 points)!

Mo Niaki won his first round at the Iran F2 futures. He is really taking advantage of these week tournaments/good draws to get some points.
Kelsey is set to play an unranked qualifier in the first round of an Indonesian futures.
Erik is still in Poland, where he is the fifth seed, playing a guy ranked 725.
A few other guys are also in the US futures qualifying (Leduc, Wali, Daniel Chu, Pajkowski and Chamerski)

Only Pajkowski has made the final round of qualies (he needs to win tomorrow to make the main draw).

And we also now have a top 50 player in the WTA!

I hope signs of future good things to come for Canada in both tours.

Another win for Stevenson, getting really close to the top 1000 now. Really gave his opponent the run-around. This is the kind of dude that he would have lost to last year. Not too sure what is happening but whatever it is, keep it going Kelsey.

How much longer till Peter is the 6th best ranked Canadian? Bester is certainly poised to take him over, and if he keeps up the losing its not out of the realm of possibility that Chvojka can overtake him with continued success in the futures.

Peter hopefully will turn it around. I'd love it if these guys push each other forward in the rankings.

Seems to have been an unusually successful day for Canadians, men and women - Chvojka won, Dubois won, Wozniak and El Tabakh won, Raonic won singles and doubles, Shamasdin won in doubles, Mo Niaki won in Iran and Stevenson in Indonesia (or was that yesterday?).

I've been really impressed with Kelsey's performance. For a long time he was losing close matches to players in qualies but ever since he got that first point he's been able to keep the ball rolling. That must have been a huge confidence booster.
