Injured or recovering from injury. Krainik too, presumably - he'd won a wildcard draw to enter Delray Beach qualies, but didn't play.

That wasn't the case with Krainik at all, the ITF screwed him over.

From Krainik:

Quote:
Today I was denied to play the qualifying event of the ATP tour event at Delray Beach. Although I fought my way through a 128 pre-qualifying draw to get the WC into the qualifying I still was not accepted into the draw which has just been published and has 11 byes.
The ITF forces the ATP to follow certain procedures which are nowhere to be found by the public, and of course not one professional player is aware of these regulations (new regulations). The ITF accused me of a late withdrawal although I withdrew on time but their electronic system showed "withdrawal being processed", and therefore my withdrawal date was the following day. On top of everything I had received an e-mail from ITF stating that I could not take part in any ITF pro circuit events during that week, but not one word was mentioned about challengers and ATP tour events.
As well a Futures event is being held nearby, and several players who have lost in the qualifying event today, tried to sign-in to the Delray Beach qualifying event, and their entries were denied because of the "one tournament per week rule". There is already so little money in the game at this level and players who have lost in one qualifying event are refused the right to play. Where is the logic? Are the two associations (ITF and ATP) working to provide the players with a working place or just limiting their possibilities?
As well, why is it necessary to withdraw 14 days before a Futures event, to be eligible to play upwards, in a Challenger or ATP Tour event? Which interests are being protected by that stupid rule? Clearly the ITF's!

(they can withdraw from qualies as late as a day or two before, should they qualify for the ATP event) Like Krainik says, two weeks before is to withdraw is too long, given the scarcity of money that there is in ITF events.

Frank and Peter both withdrew from Acapulco (ATP) qualifying list (both were in the Q draw list).

Di Feo into the quarters of the Sherbrooke F2, with a solid 3 and 3 win of Gigounon (rank 251). Very good win.

Bad day for Canadians in Rimouski. All of them are out in the first round. That's unfortunate...

Not really a surprise though. Didn't have many good players tehre this year. Even wasted a WC on some low ranked Brit.

Just wanted to add, Schnur hasn't lost a match yet, playing as position 1. He has wins over #8, #20, #51, #59 in the US rankings.

Wow! These are great news! Hope these two really give pro tennis a shot after their college careers. I'm pretty sure Schnur will, but Monette not that much...

David Volfson (1997) from Toronto has earned his first ATP point! We are starting to have quite a few ranked players now.
