Krainik decides after all of his success in the futures tour he's going to try a challenger event. Playing in San Marino qualies

should mention that IF erik or vasek get past the first round berdych awaits erik in the 2nd round and roger awaits vasek in his 2nd round.

canadian women got these:

wozniak v.s peer - would have been great for aleks if this event was 3 weeks earlier because shahar had been in a terrible slump but regained her form last week

marino v.s makarova - unknown. Makarova can be extremely dangerous but she can also be total crap. However rebecca might not be 100%

dubois v.s Q' - hard to say until we see who it is..but steph retired recently so who knows how she'll be

bouchard v.s perkovic - tough for genie. If petko plays well she's got no chance at all

An advantage for Vasek is that Chela just lost today in Europe on clay, so he doesn't have much time to adapt to the time change and different surface. Not that I would expect to see Vasek actually win, but at least it might help to make the match more competitive.

there are just 2 canadian men in the main draw and im not sure how many are qualifying but if there are any and they do qualify here are the possible opponents:

davydenko
troicki
mannarino
tomic
lopez
verdasco
simon

pretty damn harsh placement for qualifiers..i guess the best ones would be davydenko or mannarino..maybe tomic
It's actually a good draw, its a Masters 1000 and getting two clay court clowns is good.

Dolgopolov's made the AO QFs this year beating Soderling and Tsonga, and Chela is a former USO quarterfinalist.
With this being said, Pospisil might have an outside chance.

id hardly call either one a clay court clown considering that they have both had good results on hard courts in the past

Yup, for sure.

Qualifying draw is dreadfully boring. I'm not even excited to be there tomorrow anymore. Will watch Diez though for sure.

Was way better when I went two years ago. I almost don't feel like going now.

thats a very good question

a number of the strong qualifiers(gulbis, stakhovsky, isner, mannarino, gonzalez ) got into the main draw on withdrawals or other reasons. Whats left is just awful though

Yes, I guess that makes sense. It would have been a relatively decent draw if they had all been in.

I wonder why Tennis Canada didn't just throw their QWCs to some of the NTC players or recent graduates; I remember they gave Krainik one a couple of years ago. Seems strange that they'd just give them to seemingly random players instead.

Hmm.. Verdasco and Lopez are good placements for the qualifiers. Both are very inconsistent.

So are Mannarino and Tomic, seeing as they are half the players Verdasco and Lopez are.
