Re: Canadian Players 2
Oh boy, not Tomic! How many WCs does the guy need? I wish that they had given it instead to Gulbis if they weren't giving it to Frank.
Great to see that Bester is fit enough to play (I hope he really is)

Bahah Gulbis over Tomic? Laughable.

Re: Canadian Players 2
I think there's only one explanation for this. "IMG" That's why ATP releases such meaningless news like 'Tomic signs up for Kuala Lumpur or Brisbane.'

What does IMG explain? Why would Tennis Canada care? They run the Rogers Cup in order to make as much money as possible to support their operations for the rest of the year. So I understood WCs go to help Canadian tennis players or because they think it will help sell tickets. Where does IMG fit in?

Re: Canadian Players 2
I guess Diez needs to work on his serve. He won just 3 out of 10 service games in his 1-6, 6-7 defeat, 39% on his first serve. Still I give him credit for extending the match - I thought he had lost much earlier.

To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to how Tennis Canada run this things, so I'm not saying it must be true. Though I get the feeling that Tennis Canada seem quite faithful to their own players, it's not implausible to think that ATP / a big management agency like IMG which have a great influence on ATP, may give a word on one WC in some ways. Of course, TC may simply have thought he could sell more tickets. Again, it's speculation, not a statement.

OK, thanks, Shuhrat. If they had listened last year to WTA or a big management company they probably would have avoided getting into such a mess about denying Ivanovic a WC, so maybe they have decided this year to do nothing without external guidance

Pokrajac won a tournament in Ottawa this weekend, says he is back but not in good shape right now, needs to work on that.

Re: Canadian Players 2
I'm a Canadian who lives in Prostejov, so every year I go and watch the World Junior Tennis Championships.
The Canadian players have done so well this year, but we lacking a little 'killer' instinct in doubles. Tabilo hasn't lost in singles yet, and defeated the European number two from Romania. Unfortunately, Volfson lost, and then in doubles they both looked deflated. If they beat Romania, I think they would have had a chance in finishing first.
On the first day, they lost the doubles match, and as a result lost 2-1 against India. Yesterday, they defeated Spain 2-1. It turned out to be a long day in the sun, but they won their doubles.
They finished third in their group, and will play for 9th-12th place now. Currently, they are leading Belarus 1-0 after Tabilo won the first singles. Volson will play next, and Harrison will make his first appearance at the tournament in doubles with Tabilo.

Re: Canadian Players 2
Canada defeated Belarus 2-1 today, so they will play Italy for 9th place. I didn't get a chance to go today, but hopefully tomorrow.
Some video against Spain yesterday.

Re: Canadian Players 2
rogers cup news:
vasek draws juan ignacio chela in the first round
erik drew dolgopolov
tough draws for both considering that dolgopolov has found his form again and chela has been in good form all year
also i should say that gulbis got the wild card left vacant by bester's withdrawal..say about that what you will
there are just 2 canadian men in the main draw and im not sure how many are qualifying but if there are any and they do qualify here are the possible opponents:
davydenko
troicki
mannarino
tomic
lopez
verdasco
simon
pretty damn harsh placement for qualifiers..i guess the best ones would be davydenko or mannarino..maybe tomic
