I guess with all the hoop-la of Canada F3, I might as well mention that Pavel got his fourth ATP point in Italy. That at least covers all the points that he got last year so he can only go up the rankings from here.
Great work by Filip, I find it kinda funny that they gave the WC to Nguyen rather then Filip? Anyone else wonder why that happened??
I thought so too, but I wonder whether they have planned to give out the WCs to everyone spread out over the different Futures events, so maybe Peliwo is lined up to get one at next week's event.
Nguyen was in North Africa last week so it made sense for him to be spared qualifying this week (though as it turned out he lost pretty early so he could have made it back in time, albeit a little jetlagged).
I was also surprised that Di Feo is not playing the Futures, especially given that he like Monette qualified in the earlier Futures tournaments.
Instead he is in the junior tournaments, taking last week's title. It really doesn't seem like good competition for him - he lost just 10 games in 5 matches last week. But for some reason he doesn't seem to be able to win matches except in Canada and he has points from last year to defend so maybe he feels he needs to keep his junior ranking up. (He's now in the mid-West event and won his first round 6-0, 6-0)
