Default British Tennis Ratings.

Ok so I was just interested if anyone knew about these. They are meant to give a indication on how good (how high a standard a player is in Britain). Someone like say Andy Murray is a 1.1. And the rating go down from there (elite level) like this 1.1 then 1.2 then 2.1 to 2.2 all the way down to 10.2 . My current rating is 9.2. I've been playing a 7.1 pretty much every month for the last 18 or so months. Does anyone here have any experience in tournements ? I am quite happy for people to mention any level grades 1 to 7 . Or even just club level. (Grades 6 and 7). I currently have a ranking in my county (got lucky) . Any Brits care to share there experience playing in any comps at these kind of tournaments ? ( I am aware there is a huge difference in these from grade 5 up to grade 1). It's like going from non league football to the premiership .

My rating is the US 4.5 I think that's a UK 4, I used to play the old ratings events years ago but not played anything for years, I plan to change that next year though

Cool cool. I,ve only played 4s and 5s however my first experience was unfortunately a grade 3, you can image how that went as I am a 9.2 .

The rating that you use, is that an ITN rating? I have a chart that compares the ITN and NTRP systems and defines each category, the LTA on gives the impression that a player rated a 9 can barely play! Google National Tennis Rating Program and you'll see the chart I'm referring to. Ive read some of your posts and I'm pretty sure you're better than the LTA definition of your standard. Oh, just read that april 1 the ranking system will change again

Yeah I think they are making the rankings universal, so under 18s seniors etc will all be on the same ranking system together or something like that.

No it's a British tennis rating which is different . 9.2 is still pretty bad for a rating thought lol. It starts at 10.2 ( the lowest) and goes up to 10.1 then 9.2 and so on until you get to 1.1 . So yes my rating is very low. I have played county singles competitions and taken a set of a 7.2 before but I still lost on the 10 point tiebreak. I got my rating probably 5 years ago now so I am probably better than what you'd expect a 9.2 to be .

Played a singles grade 4 competition in Solihull a couple weeks. Had a bye in the first match (16 draw) then lost my first 4-0, 4-0 won my first consolation match 4-1 , 4-0 against a 8.2 . Quite pleased with that as I am a 9.2 . Lost my third 4-1, 4-0. Still pleased to get one win. Played on outdoors carpet.
