Thanks for that info. He's done well enough here. Yes, let him throw everything at Federer but if he doesn't make it this is a great consolation prize. And great news about the doubles win.

Well, he took a set off Fed and he made him work a bit. 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-2
He still has doubles tomorrow.
Overall I’m elated he made it this far and I hope this is a sign of his return.

I also agree to what you said
Tommy really played a good match despite the loss and I am sure he is on the way up again
Good luck in the doubles Tommy y Marcel
One question: Does anyone know the name of Tommys new coach? He was sitting next to Marcel during Tommys match, but I had never seen him before...

I was wondering the same thing... Also saw him on the photos of Tommy and Marcel's win in Auckland on Tommy's site, and again in Tommy's box during today's match... So I'm guessing he's indeed the new coach! Maybe Tommy'll tell us soon on his blog

Tommy and Marcel lost 6-4 4-6 6-4.
Nice run, though!

Re: ~ * ~ The "Anem Tommy en Melbourne!!!" Australian Open 2011 Cheering Thread ~ * ~
For what it's worth, Tommy had a great run in this years Aussie Open. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come for him. Here is a fun, non-tennis related interview with him.
10 burning questions with Tommy Robredo
Sunday, 23 January, 2011
By Matt Trollope
Favourite holiday spot?
My hometown Olot, in the north east (of Spain) in Catalonia.
Finish this sentence: "If I wasn't a tennis player, I'd be ..."
Most likely a normal student. I don't know (what I'd study) but most other people study so (if I) wouldn't be a tennis player, (I would) have chances to be a student.
Best moment on court?
Obviously when you finish a match and win, I think that's the best moment ... for me it was very special when I played in Paris Bercy (in 2006) the year that I was playing for (a place in) the Masters Cup in Shanghai, and I beat (Sebastien) Grosjean (in the second round) when I was a set and 5-2 down. If I was to lose this match I wouldn't be going to Shanghai ... that was a very special one.
Did you make a New Year's resolution?
No.
What are you listening to on your iPod?
I don't listen to music very often. I listen when I'm going in my car, or when I'm bored in the room I just put on my iTunes and just put random music ... The good songs that are there on the radio at the moment, things like that.
If you could pick any player from history to be your doubles partner, who would you choose?
Stefan Edberg - I liked a lot when he was playing, the way he was playing, I think he was a really kind guy, he was doing a lot for the sport ... I would like to play with him
Forehand or backhand?
Forehand.
Sweet or savoury?
Sweet - chocolate, ice cream.
Beatles or Rolling Stones?
Can it be another one? (He gets the go-ahead) ... Something modern.
Which actor would you get to play you in a movie about your life?
I don't know - someone who costs me no money and he can do it good. Because if I get Russell Crowe or someone like this it's gonna cost too much money for me to do the movie!
