AO is not a slow surface, otherwise Murray wouldn't have reached the final beating Nadal. It's medium hardcourts. For the record, Nadal won the USO dropping only one set. And the USO hardcourts are really fast right? So forget about the speed thing and Nadal. He's more of an all-surface player now than any other player and that includes Federer who was mediocre on clay and grass this year.

As everyone knows it takes a great deal of time to get back to reasonable form on ATP tour, nevermind to top 5 being a slam contender. Del Potro might be a decent ball basher, who can get hot and beat everyone, but it is uncertain how much his injury affected him physically and mentally (rumors are he is in depression, thus pulling out of all 2010 events). Unlike many people on the board proclaiming Del Potro a new dominating force in tennis or some kind of Nadal destroyer, I am a bit skeptical. Let's see what he can do in the next 12 months. If he can consistently beat Nadal at least 50% of the time on his least favorite surface, I will gladly eat my words.
Del-po in prone to injury & is emotional, but unlike Tsonga he was turning the tables against nadull on HC.
However we will have to wait & see.

Me thinks he will go for around 10 months without a hardcourt title, eventually getting another one around September next year.
As usual, he won't be good enough to win any of the big titles, but he'll win another 500, like Tokyo.

Discuss.....

Del Po is one guy I'd never underestimate and he was still improving by the month.
He fears no one, something even top players try to achieve their whole careers.
No one wants to play him, if he's on then he can bring down the best in dramatic fashion.

omg stop the crapp... Nadal has proven he is an all surface guy now, even with the slow-down surfaces activity these last years, its still a HC surface and he won. Im a Roger fan, but i have to accept that Nadal is a warrior. Federer is still the GOAT.

Nadal has big chances to win AO next year

In the past 2 yrs(2009 and 2010), Nadal won 2 HC slams, more HC slams than any other player won during the same period.
